Cloud9 weigh up ATK move - Report

Cloud9 are currently exploring the possibility of signing the ATK roster, according to a report from DBLTAP.

The American organisation recently lost their core trio of Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta, Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele, and Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen to Gen.G following a series of lacklustre results, seeing the team exit BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen in last place while also failing to qualify for both the ECS Season 8 Finals and ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals.

ATK, meanwhile, were able to secure a spot in Odense for ESL Pro League through the second Americas group stage, giving a majority of the roster the opportunity to play in their first Big Event.

The ATK players may don new jerseys in the near future

Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou's troops managed to impress in Denmark, notching best-of-three wins over North and G2 before falling to the eventual champions, MOUZ, in the Group B lower bracket final to exit the tournament in 7-8th place.

Should the move come to fruition, it is unknown what lies in the future for Tyson "⁠TenZ⁠" Ngo, Oscar "⁠mixwell⁠" Cañellas, and coach James "⁠JamezIRL⁠" Macaulay, with only the Spaniard and coach being mentioned in the team's official announcement regarding the Gen.G transfer.

? 1. There is no NA players available except like ATK & WARDELL 2. This is a good team to pick up, they have a bright future. There is a very logical explanation to this, ATK is a good youngster team with great talent as we clearly saw at their last event.

For whatever reason I always thought management was always about to jump in with a huge move and their were plenty of rumors so I know someone was working it's just such a hard fall from grace while NA itself is rising in the rankings the most storied NA org is taking cheap bets. Oh well. I'm not hating on the ATK guys. Maybe they are a top 10 team just waiting for proper backing and experience. I hope they are in fact. It's just another cheap bet from C9 like I said. Maybe it'll work out this time. Probably not though. Their own history since 2017 makes me think it'll be another roster with minimal support and no gumption to make the hard cut when you need it.

If they take on the entire ATK team (coach and analyst included), then there is potential. Cloud 9 should just provide the funding, facilities and opportunities. The moment they are going to make changes to ATK is the moment they are going to waste another team and end some careers.
