Flashpoint seeks replacement for FPX roster ahead of Phase 2

Flashpoint is currently on the lookout for a replacement for the Danish roster that played under FunPlus Phoenix in Phase 1, HLTV.org has confirmed.

Earlier on Wednesday, Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller revealed on Twitter that he was flying back to Denmark, all but confirming that talks between HEROIC and FunPlus Phoenix broke down as a result of Patrick "⁠es3tag⁠" Hansen agreeing to join Astralis on July 1.

This leaves Flashpoint one team short ahead of Phase 2, which is scheduled to start on Friday at 18:00 . Just like in the opening stage, the 12 competing teams will be split into three double-elimination groups, with all matches being played in a best-of-three format.

Flashpoint Phase 2 will begin on Friday

Contacted by HLTV.org, a Flashpoint representative stated that a replacement for the Danish team is expected to be found before the group selection show on Thursday at 20:00 .

FunPlus Phoenix picked up just 15 points in Phase 1 after finishing last of their group and face a difficult task to secure enough points in Phase 2 to make the eight-team playoffs. cadiaN's troops lost their opening match against Cloud9 and had to forfeit the lower bracket series against Orgless, a blow that left the 24-year-old "gutted".

Not agreeing to re-sign isn't backstabbing. He's fulfilling his contract and doing exactly what he agreed to - play for Heroic until July 2020. That's what he signed. That he doesn't want to play with the same roster after that date is entirely his prerogative.

i was told they were preparing for this match and 1h before or even less they have been told they can't play, it's like you got to work with 5 people, but one of your workmates contract ends in 2 months so you can't do the job. estag wanted to play and was ready to play. FACEIT made a really terrible call...

Yep, it’s because fpx backed out after learning he wasn’t not going to resign, this has nothing to do with estag, fully falls on fpx which are going to have a legal battle with heroic and flashpoint as I’m sure they signed paperwork saying they would pay the league within 12 months of their first match. But being a Chinese org they will just turtle up in China and be exempt from everything, tho this will hurt their other teams playing other games in up coming leagues. I might crumble the .org then again it might not seeing as faceit don’t have much steak in anything other than csgo, if it was an esl run event I could almost guarantee they wouldn’t of backed out cuz if they did their league will almost be done in every other game

No, they were supoosed to have 10 partner teams and 2 from qualifiers, but they only got 8 (7 if we don't count FPX) and they filled the spots with free invites for teams which didn't win the qualifiers. They will do the same now, they will either invite the best NA team from the qualifier that already wasn't in the league, or a random NA team

This league was trash from the beginning, the very concept of forcing teams to be at a certain rank if they do not want to be fined is just hilarious from the get-go. Adding to that the tournament had problems from the start, considering they were too stubborn to play Online, failure to keep teams, bad and unmotivated casters, etc. And who would have guessed that Thorin would be a stuck up bitch about it all? Trash talking ESL and staying on his high horse, claiming to be the "only LAN tournament" momentarily before delaying the tournament for a few days so they can switch to online, also being super stuck up about the situation from before the event even started, in case your face is so god damn fat, that your eyes have swollen shut you would have seen in a previous HLTV interview with him, how enormously unprofessional he was. Insulting ESL and its partners, while also throwing shade at them for normally used business tactics in a negotiation. You should really work on your reading comprehension, since I never claimed he was for blame for the drama - but rather said that he deserves every bit of shit coming towards him since he was such an insufferable twat from the get-go. To add to your destruction, do not tell anyone that they cannot speak English professionally, when they are more capable at speaking and writing it, than you yourself. If it's the second option then FPX was never a partnered team (which is what they announced they were) and that kind of ruins the entire point of this league and the league should probably be disbanded. Additionally, how did they allow FPX to join (assuming they didn't become partners) without them having completely signed a CSGO team? All of this makes no sense and sounds like someone was cutting corners again.

From what I read on other HLTV articles, FPX was allowed to defer their 2m entry fee until after season 1 (kind of like they were given a test season). I'm guessing with this fiasco Flashpoint basically said "pay up or we are replacing you" It could be that FPX is also saying "give us time to get a new roster found", but I think that's unlikely. I really wish that Flashpoint had just given the spot to Heroic... the team was already there. es3tag is signed until June 1st anyways, so might as well let the team play. I can understand FPX not wanting them to play under the FPX name, but what's to stop them from using Heroic? If they didn't want to play with es3tag, they could have coach stand in.

Lets say you go to a stand to buy a car, you test drive it and you like it. When you are about to actually buy it, they remove the breaks but you can still drive it around while you search for a replacement. Do you still buy the car? It all comes down to what you were going to buy, the deal changed and they are in their right to abort the deal because of it.

The deal did not get changed. FPX wanted to by the Heroic team with 3 months left of contract (at least on Es3 contact) Ex3 goes after 3 month to a new venture. FPX totally knew what would happen. When I am this stupid to buy a car where the breaks have a sign "Breaks gonna be removed 3 months in service", then I either take it and get new brakes before the 3 months period or leave it. They went in, found out how dump they are and now they are canceling it all together while trying to give the fault to a player or another org who did nothing wrong. FPX just shows how little china knows about freedom of people.
