ENCE sign Jamppi to create six-man roster

ENCE have announced that they have expanded their lineup to six players following the signing of former SJ member Elias "⁠Jamppi⁠" Olkkonen.

The Finnish AWPer has signed a two-year contract with ENCE and will step into Sami "⁠xseveN⁠" Laasanen's shoes in the team's next tournaments except ESL One: Road to Rio, a Valve-sponsored competition, because of his VAC ban.

The 18-year-old, who joins ENCE for free following the expiry of his contract with SJ, will be competing with his new team in DreamHack Masters Spring and in the Elisa Invitational in the upcoming weeks. By mid-June, ENCE plan on re-evaluating their set-up according to how the event schedule has developed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Miikka "⁠suNny⁠" Kemppi becomes the team's new in-game leader, taking over the role from Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli, who had been calling the shots since Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen's benching after the StarLadder Major.

ENCE hope that this overhaul will allow the team to return the top following a steep decline in form in the last eight months. A year ago, the Finnish outfit was a regular presence in the top five in the world rankings, but they are now languishing in 24th place after exiting their last three tournaments at the bottom of the standings.

"It has been a rocky road in the past few months, which has caused issues with the players mentally and affected their performance," ENCE General Manager Niklas Ojalainen told ENCE's website.

"We as an organization have to make steps towards further professionalizing the environment in a multitude of ways. Our results have been very disappointing, so changes needed to happen. Signing Elias to the team was an opportunity we couldn’t pass on and he deserves the chance to showcase his talent to the world."

Jamppi emerged in 2019 as one of the most promising young talents in Europe and was featured in September in HLTV.org's "One for the future" series. Just a month later, he came close to joining OG, but his ties to a Steam account with a VAC ban saw the famed Dota 2 organisation move in a different direction and pick up Mateusz "⁠mantuu⁠" Wilczewski instead.

Last month, DBLTAP revealed that the Finnish youngster had filed a lawsuit against Valve, claiming that the account in question had been sold to a friend and that the ban from all Valve-sanctioned tournaments had prevented him from signing a contract with OG.

ENCE stated that the lifetime ban is "far too steep" and stand behind the player in his pursuit to overturn the decision. The Finnish organisation also called on the Counter-Strike Professional Players’ Association (CSSPA) "to take his case seriously", not just for Jamppi but also to prevent potential similar cases in the future.

I think this is a decent move for Ence, the roster has needed a shuffle for awhile. Still have to feel for xseven, the guy is an amazing supportive player. Best of luck to Jamppi, this is a great opportunity to showcase his talent. The one thing that is confusing is suNny as IGL, but he did do some calling back in mouz. Allu sure wasn't working.

Another one that either hasn't watched ence matches or just doesnt understand what he sees. Aerial loses so much rounds and he's in a role to frag a lot, but most times he just doesnt deliver. Xseven is playing absolutely garbage roles, but he is smart and he has balls to make plays unlike others in ence. Xseven is way more valuable player to that team. If its even possible at this point, ence is just going to fall even harder.

you dumb? The literally is a support role. That player usually buys utility over best gun, plays b site alone, plays bad positions and baits for others. OFC he will have less kills and less "impact" which don't show up on hltv stats.

Support players often hold sites solo when it's like 4v3 to enemies so they can stack A site with 2 and hope they won't come B. And holding site is 10x harder than with teammate. No one can flash for you, cannot crossfire and cannot bait or take enemies attention so other teammate surprises them.

I remember Zero back in the HR days (when they were actually decent) was solo holding sites but he wasn't the support. I'd provide more examples but sadly I can't think of them rn. But I agree that mostly the support players are the ones solo holding the bombsites, but not all the solo b site players are support.

He was a good support player when aug was OP. Hes still a pretty shit support overall. Hes alright on t side but his ct side is beyond laughable. Atleast guys like RpK are able to anchor sites which is why they stay around, xSeven hasnt been able to do any of that since the aug got nerfed.

There is a decent argument as to the impact of the AUG nerf, but I think the power of the SG553 also significantly dampened Ence's approach. The overall CT statistics for Ence are very low, and while their coordination is a factor in that, the entry power of many top teams is a leading factor to their lack of success. I do still see a place for xSeven at a top level, but only if the recent weapons changes merit an increase in form for him.

Uts not even just weapon changes but I also would like to see him as an entry over a supportive element. The reason why is I feel hed be more impactful that way. I dont mean send him to literally die for another player like the TACO/Cold setup but have him and maybe Sergej work as a quick double entry like Magisk and Dupreeh and see if that change benefits the team. As a support he looks really weak (even after that FNC upset)

We haven't seen them playing yet. Allu made roughly 50 percent of their calls when aleksib was still in the roster. Now they will return back to the situation where allu calls more occasionally and focuses on awp. They have potential to be either extremely powerful or even worse than now. And I am very curious how you define good ingameleader? Apparently there isn't any ingameleading academy yet? Thus I wouldn't judge sunny's decision to change his role. We have seen similar succesful cases.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to it either. My point was that their calling was mixed and not only done by aleksib. In my opinion, ingameleading and round calling is somewhat tricky concept. If you have a dynamic and experienced group of players, solid structure and good roles then there might be even five guys calling.

I still dont understand why they are forcing Aerial to be the main entry. If ence would have benched Aerial instead of aleksi in the first place they would now have the best possible finnish roster. Aleksib (IGL) Sunny (entry) Allu (AWP) Sergej (rifle) xseven (support) Jamppi (supersub secondary awp) also like sunny said they didnt have a hype guy after aleksi and they have all looked like zombies on crack for the last year so although we look like zombies to ppl from other countries Jamppi truly knows how to hype up the squad. Unfortunately i dont see this changing too much as Sunny can wave good bye to the hopes of regaining his 2018 form. Sergej needs to get his shit together. He said he didnt have to change anything in his game after the first roster change yet he's been awful for his standards.

So he bought steam account the permission of his parents (their credit card) during homeLANs. Same evening he handed over/sold the steam account to his friend which didnt have an account so the friend could play with others. This happened when Jamppi was 14 years old. Later that year that steam account was banned. Maybe his friend didnt have a permission to buy a steam account (very strict parents) Why judge people when you don’t know the real story? I think everything will be cleared out when the lawsuit is finished.

Okay I think I explained incorrectly. My point wasnt to say that the account was banned for no reason. And of course it is a shitty reason to say ”it was my friend” but check #529 comment. Maybe this case is one of the 1% which really happened the way it was explained.

Yes of course people does that but in this case there is no doubt reasonable evidences which speaks for Jamppis innocent. Check #529. I dont say he couldnt be guilty but there can be a chance this really happened the way he explained.

He didnt sell any steam accounts. He made 4 new accounts for his hockeyteammates when they had lan party, and all of these accounts have only played games together. So unless Jamppi played with 5 pc's at the same time, id say its plausible.

There was a reddit thread about it. Some guy pulled up all the old games where Jamppi played with his current main in the same games as those so called Jamppis vac banned accounts. Reason why its connected to Jamppi is because the accounts were linked to his fathers credit card. I can try to find the thread but frankly i dont really give a shit about the whole thing :D

And as faceit stats show, the banned account was in the same games with Jamppi's main, which suggests that he didnt use the account himself. Also the main point. Dude was 14. I think Jamppi screwed when he told he sold the account instead of telling them he created it for his friend to play on and have cut his ties to the account, giving up the @mail etc. Because always you sell something, you should do a contract or somekind what has "ink on the paper" to make it legitiment. But he's young and lets hope volvo fixes their mistake banning rising star.

Wouldn't change anything because who register account, is responsible for it forever, even if somebody else cheat on it and get VAC. It's affecting to Jamppi because he has ties to that account. Cutting them and sorta deleting every connection to account would have covered his ass. Seems like you didn't get the point what I was talking about. And yes, I know how VAC works. Dude, they lost 2 their biggest sponsors because they are most hated team in CSGO.. even their finnish sponsor left just because some finnish like them anymore, isn't much on global scale. I even heard that most ENCE fans moved to OG fans after aleksib scandal. And do you have proves that he never cheated? He got CSGO VAC-ban which is mark of cheater. Just because he or his friend say it wasn't him, doesn't prove anything. Every cheater say it was his friend who cheated.
