The former Gen.G in-game leader is reportedly set to reunite with Chet "⁠Chet⁠" Singh in VALORANT.

Sam "⁠s0m⁠" Oh, Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele, and Chet are in talks to join NRG's VALORANT roster, according to a report from Rush B Media. The move comes after Chet and daps stepped down from 100 Thieves and Gen.G, respectively, in recent weeks, with s0m's potential departure from the latter team leaving them with three players on their active roster.

daps and Chet previously represented NRG together in CS:GO, most notably claiming victories at IEM Shanghai and cs_summit 3.

s0m and daps are reportedly set to make the jump to VALORANT

The move would mark the end of a lengthy career in CS:GO for the Canadian captain, who has competed for a number of notable organisations since 2012, including Liquid, OpTic, and Cloud9. daps also led Gen.G to success at DreamHack Open Anaheim earlier this year, where a stellar showing from s0m helped the team to a first-place finish.

Gen.G have struggled to post notable results since taking home the trophy in Anaheim, exiting a majority of tournaments during the online era in the group stage. s0m's individual form has gone from a team-high rating of 1.33 at DreamHack Anaheim to just 0.99 in the last six months, the lowest in the squad.

The reported move would leave Gen.G with:

Exactly. I grew up playing CS, I wish CS was the better maintained, but it is not. All games have both old bugs exposed and new ones come out when updates come, but Valve is slow to update bugs or add new stuff RIOT is faster. 128 tick servers alone make VALORANT worth playing over CS for me at times if I am going to play a casual game solo queue MM game. CSGO is great with friends and great on on ESEA/Faceit, or other 128 tick servers, but 64 tick MM servers,and the lost frames that come with them are horrible.

I doubt obo will join C9 here because by the time they have a roster, they will be basing it on EU first then transfer the roster to LA right after the COVID season. So there might be a good chance for obo to join Gen.G because it's based in NA and he feels homesick right now. The point is Gen.G is a Tier 1 org. So they have the money to put things together. This started as a project. Som hasn't really worked out as a player possibly due to the online world hitting at a bad time possibly he just sucks. So with all that said and with Autimatic and Bntet on the roster signing Obo along with Osee gives them a good chance to become a tier 1 team. Is the point.

And ex-C9 with oBo, and maybe replacing motm too, has just as good a chance as becoming a t1 team. Gen.G: BnTeT is good Koosta is an unproven IGL, decent rifler I love auti but last time he played rifle was with mixwell on C9 and he was nowhere near his old form, so realistically he's not something to rely on when building a new team. C9: JT big brain oSee good Sonic decent C9 has a stronger foundation to build off of in terms of existing players. Again, I wouldn't worry about the org too much. I wouldn't expect oBo's buyout to be too high considering they got him for free and he's still relatively inexperienced, plus Jason Lake seems to have a soft spot for him so I don't think he'll trap him in a contract. And oBo's too young to be wanting a ridiculous salary.

Sounds like you're biased, and so do I. But, Gen.G can get an IGL + oBo if they wanted to and keep the roles hence putting koosta back to the 2nd awper role. Here is my 1 main reason why signing oBo along with the ex-C9 team wouldn't work, it is because his performance is being bottlenecked by JT's fragging ability as an IGL (similar to daps fragging ability. I think it would be balanced if there's an IGL that is also decent at fragging.

The IGL doesn't have to be in NA. They can get one from EU/Oceania and have them apply for a P1 Athletic visa (if possible). They can get dexter from Renegades.

In terms of competitive teams at the top tier. NA has literally never been better. EG and Liquid were 2 of 3 teams to be number one LAN teams in the last two years. So I mean as a fan of just watching CS at this point I don't really care tbh. Like you people clearly don't remember NA CS pre-2017. C9 and Optic had one tier 1 trophy apiece for the entire games history. You'd be lucky to see one player in the top 20 list. Facts, the scene tier 2 that was being built up by FNS and others is dead. No rising talents or upcoming tier 2 teams. Everyone creates NA so bad, but it really is looking like that if EG goes down and tries to swap players. Liquid look bad, grim is not solution and neither is Stewie who plays Valorant half the time

I cant wait to see what all those guys will do when competition in Valorant will be seriously hard in a year or two ( after corona shit ). Valorant because of its casual appeal ( means everything in game happens in a way easier fashion, from kills to rotates to executions ) will have fierce competition when newcomers start getting serious as well. Now they think they got the upper hand because there is zero competition, game is new and all those CSGO pros having the upper hand in more than few ways. But for how long ? A year , two ? This is really the best choice for both players and the team. It allows the players to extend their pro playing career as long as Valorant will have them. Because while a lot of pros have switched games the cream will rise to the top as it always does. As far as Gen.G goes this really opens them up to be serious contenders for Obo who's basically said with his actions he's going to be playing for an NA team as long as Covid is a thing. As far as I can tell that's a huge upgrade on Som. You get Autimatic back on the rifle and then you pick up Osee. All of a sudden Gen.G look pretty legit.

Just check the schedules on Liquipedia. The current state of their T1 scene is basically filled with former CS players trying to milk prize money, even in Asia. There is not that much T1 tourney going on. Almost all 25k or more tournaments were Ignition Series which is funded by Riot, and they got like 20-30k viewers on twitch (the 50k number is buffed by being on Twitch mainpage). Fyi It seems Riot is going to fund another series of tournaments starting this month.
