The two-time Major champion says he feels ready to take the captain role in his next team if necessary.

Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt is out of OG's starting lineup, the organisation and the player announced on Friday. The news comes one day after French outlet VaKarM reported that the 26-year-old had been benched.

NBK- had been one of the more criticized players on OG's roster alongside Issa "⁠ISSAA⁠" Murad following a rough start to the 2021 season. The international team were eliminated in the early stages of cs_summit 7, failed to qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Finals, and didn't make it into the IEM Katowice playoffs.

NBK- had been playing for OG since the organisation entered CS:GO 15 months ago

In a recent appearance on 'HLTV Confirmed', in-game leader Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen had said that they were having a lot of discussions about what they could do to right the ship.

"The early 2021 results have been quite rough on us, and the team felt the need for a re-adjustment to keep moving forward in its quest to its first trophy," OG said in an official statement.

"Rare are the squads who don’t undergo difficult changes after such a long period of time sticking together. The team has decided that bringing in a breath of fresh air could be the required step to bounce back."

NBK- also put out an official statement and revealed that he is prepared to be a dedicated in-game leader moving forward if it's the right project, adding that he's eager to bounce back.

"We went through a lot and reached decent success but ultimately we didn't agree on how to consistently perform at the highest level," NBK- said. "We have all tried to bring the group and OG to the highest level the way we thought was right and this is what I will keep from this roster and this past year and a half."

The 26-year-old said that working with people from different backgrounds made him a better player and person, thanking his ex-teammates for the experience.

"With that said, I am very confident in my abilities to keep competing in tier 1 CS and in what I can bring to any roster both in and outside of the game," he said. "I started and I will keep working with a sports psychologist and performance coach to keep improving on a daily basis and be the best teammate possible in the future. CS and winning trophies have been my #1 priority in my life for the past 11 years and will continue to be. For the right project, I feel that I’m ready to take the lead (IGL) and a lot of responsibilities if needed, but that’s not a necessity to me and I can adapt."

OG will have to find a replacement before ESL Pro League Season 13, which will kick off on March 8. Their roster currently looks as follows:

+1 Whether he's a good IGL is another question but it would probably be the best use of his person type and skillset. There are no room for two guys like NBK and AleksiB in the same team, they are too stubborn or prideful and needs more control to be satisfied. It eventually happened in Ence between Allu and him as well, now it's happening with NBK as well and AleksiB isn't planning on dropping his IGL role at this point and NBK got too vocal about it and had to go from a team chemistry's sake. Once you get to that point it's very hard to reverse it, especially as OG lacks a psychologist / mental coach that could have prolonged team chemistry as a 3rd person stepping in early on to normalize the heat inside the team when things go bad. Never underestimate the mental side of the game.

yes, but if your star players are missing shots there is nothing that the support player can do about that also from a recent video from thorin about OG from the coms he said that issaa was disruptive and hurt communication, so if he is bad for the team in communication and just an average star player, he should be on the chopping block first. On top of that, it is way easier to find an average to good star player like issaa then it is to find a great support player like nbk.

My picture is that NBK disagreed with others on how the team should continue after the rather shit start to the year and maybe even wanted to take over as IGL but aleksi was like nah and then he benched himself. Don't think a team has space for 2 different voices like in ENCE with aleksib/allu and vitality with NBK/ALEX. That is most likely why they got kicked from their previous teams and aleksi learned from it and didn't get benched again.
