EXTREMUM take down O PLANO to meet FURIA in cs_summit 8 consolidation final

The Brazilian team fell flat in a two-map series against Aaron "⁠AZR⁠" Ward and company.

EXTREMUM are through to the consolidation final of cs_summit 8 after eliminating O PLANO from the event in fourth place. The Oceanic side had little difficulty dispatching of the Brazilian roster, easing past them on Inferno before narrowly securing a win on Dust2 to claim a series victory, setting up a match against FURIA for a spot in the best-of-five grand final against Liquid.

When asked about their upcoming match against FURIA, who the EXTREMUM core will play for the first time since losing to them in the grand final of IEM New York North America last year, AZR stated he was looking forward to the match-up. "FURIA can never be underestimated," the Australian in-game leader said. "We just have to make sure we prepare and come into tomorrow with a good game plan."

After banning Inferno in all of their matches thus far in the event, O PLANO let the map through against EXTREMUM, hoping to show a better face on it than on Nuke, where their T sides have consistently fallen short. However, the inexperience in official showings on the map for O PLANO was immediately apparent as they were unable to string rounds together, with EXTREMUM posting a 10-5 lead at the half before winning six straight to rapidly bring the map to a close.

Looking to recover from the swift loss, O PLANO showed a better face on Dust2, resulting in the two teams remaining deadlocked at halftime. Following the side swap, though, it was EXTREMUM who once again gained the upper hand, attaining match point in short order before Joakim "⁠jkaem⁠" Myrbostad put a halt to O PLANO's comeback effort in round 30 with an ace to close the series.
