Liquid close in on oSee - Report

The 22-year-old would take over the AWPing duties in Liquid.

Following the renewal of Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic, the next big news in the Liquid camp could be the addition of Extra Salt AWPer Josh "⁠oSee⁠" Ohm, according to a report by 1pv.fr.

The American AWPer has posted a 1.30 rating during his time in the North American-South African outfit over the past year, garnering more attention and recognition than previously.

During his time in Extra Salt, oSee won two DreamHack Opens North America, in March and June, and most recently was a key part in the team’s ESL Pro League Season 15 qualifying run at ESL Conference, where he was the top-rated player at the event with a 1.33 in his 8 maps played.

oSee could soon be named Liquid's AWPer

The report of oSee joining Liquid comes shortly after the North American organization announced NAF’s contract extension, making him and Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski the only two players safe on the roster as Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince are expected to make their exits from the team.

Earlier reports also included French veteran Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon as a possible addition to the team as well as former IGL Nick "⁠nitr0⁠" Cannella, who would be pondering a return to Counter-Strike after a short sojourn playing Valorant.

Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo was also briefly included in the ongoing rumors surrounding Liquid after he was benched in FURIA, but that possible move seems to have cooled down.

My guess is he was reluctant, but who knows. At one point it made a ton of sense to lose Stewie and put nitr0 on support (and let Twistzz shine again), but for whatever reason they took the FalleN/Grim approach.

They didn’t originally want Grim, they originally wanted to replace nitr0 with oSee and I think Twistzz with floppy but they couldn’t get them. nitr0 was already out the door so they picked up Grim. This didn’t address their need for an awper so when Twistzz left they picked up FalleN. A series of unfortunate events.

Well originally oSee stuck with ES through an offer for him and floppy from C9. As far as Liquid wanting him, well, I had never heard that but they'd have been stupid not to. At least in the context that they needed a real AWP. Unfortunately not ditching Stewie for an AWP, and trying to keep Twistzz, was probably their biggest mistake, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I think, while Twistzz is an incredible player, players that fulfill Twistzz roles are a dime a dozen. Stewie, however, is a very rare player. You can pick up a Grim and slot him into Twistzz role and he will be fine, you could not do the same with slotting him into Stewies role.

Osee is an amazing move, he is an amazing awper and can carry hard. By far the best awper in NA and can be a huge step on Fallen. I would also keep stewie over shox or look into bringing Floppy instead. Also, there is pretty good players in Party Astronauts that are orgless. Infinite or cynic would be great replacements too.

Well, if they get oSee I don't see how Nitro returns. I like oSee, but Nitro wasn't all that great as an AWPer towards the end, and his rifling has traditionally been worse than his AWPing. If the team adds Nitro on top of oSee, there will be role clashes. And role clashes is what dethroned Liquid during their golden era, and has been a recurring issue for the last year and a half with Grim. Nitro as a pure IGL and second AWP sounds better, but I still find it worrisome that he's bringing very little firepower and, going based on past tendencies, very simple default strats. Liquid is likely to become one dimensional. It might secure them a top 5 ranking based on talent alone, but they won't be winning major tournaments with their firepower.

Taco will not abandon GODSENT, also Felps. Coldzera said on interview that he'll not be part, at least soon. Coldzera is a good player but interested on paychecks, might be toxic and Fallen is trying to build the most Friendly team he can. FNX did not show great interest to be part even though it is the only one with no team right now. (FNX is well spoken by all of them, about his mechanical skills, but some say that bad friendships ruined his career if you know what I mean). I believe Fer will be part of the team, but I think he is one of the most out of the current meta, aim outdated,tatics, movements etc.. Personally I think the team will be most for FUN, to merchandise Fer and Boltz skins site and to prepare the new guys. Fallen, Fer, Boltz and two promising youngsters. Remote chance that Vini will be together.
