Liquid and EG continue recovery in Americas RMR

Round 3 of the Americas RMR kicked off and saw Liquid, Party Astronauts, Evil Geniuses, and São Caetano emerge victorious.

The first set of Americas Regional Major Ranking matches for the day have concluded, and it was dominance for the three North American sides that faced off against Brazilian opponents. Liquid, Party Astronauts, and Evil Geniuses, and São Caetano all took important wins and are now 2-1 in the Swiss format.

São Caetano faced Isurus in a Brazilian derby on Nuke, which was a back-and-forth match as the two traded rounds all game long. In the end, Gustavo "⁠SHOOWTiME⁠" Gonçalves's squad took the victory for themselves as they look to secure a top six spot in the tournament.

The contest between Evil Geniuses and 00NATION saw a clash of two former teammates, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David. Both players now serving as their team's respective in-game leaders, it was Stewie2K who got the better of the two as he led his team to their second consecutive win.

Although the Americas RMR began with heavy tournament favorites Liquid underperforming, the highest-ranked NA team in attendance may have dispelled all doubt with a dominant game in round three, taking a quick 16-1 victory against paiN.

In the final best-of-one match of round three, Party Astronauts were able to cleanly break down Case's gameplan, stomping them 11-4 on their T-side before wasting no time in wrapping up the match, improving their standing to a 2-1 record.

The next set of matches in round 3 will be between the teams with a perfect 2-0 record such as Complexity and FURIA battling it out against one another, as well as those who are winless, fighting for their tournament lives and a chance at participating in the upcoming Major such as Bad News Bears and 9z.
