crisby to coach new OG academy team
The German veteran has been tasked with putting together and heading OG's youngster project.
In mid-February, OG announced their plan to put together an academy roster, sharing their aim to ensure long-term success and stability of their CS:GO division, and started an application process for the project's leader and lineup.
Two and a half months later, the organization has now revealed the head coach of the junior squad. 30-year-old veteran Christian "crisby" Schmitt has been chosen for the position and tasked with compiling the lineup from over 50 candidates, who will undergo trials in the coming weeks.
The German is perhaps best known for his numerous stints with ALTERNATE aTTaX spanning a decade and three different versions of the game, and in more recent times as a long-time player in Unicorns of Love. From the latter team, crisby has a connection to OG's assistant coach, Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk, who stood behind UoL for over a year in 2020-2021.

After a long playing career, crisby recently transitioned into coaching with North American squad and Fragadelphia 16-winning side Strife, where the German skipper spent the last four months before leaving in preparation for his move to OG.
"First of all, I’m really happy and grateful for getting the opportunity to work for such a world class organization on their academy project to develop players for the future," crisby said in a statement to OG.
"I also want to thank Strife for giving me the opportunity as a coach. While it was my first experience in that role, I gained the knowledge I believe will help as set the foundation in my new well as the new home that is OG."
The announcement of a new academy coach comes at a time when OG's main team's results have drastically worsened when compared to their successful debut at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups following the switch of Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen for Nemanja "nexa" Isaković.
After qualifying for the Spring Final with an impressive record, the European squad went on to get eliminated in joint-last place at IEM Katowice by HEROIC and MOUZ. They then failed to qualify for PGL Major Antwerp with a 2-3 record in the European RMR B tournament, suffering losses to Natus Vincere, FORZE, and Eternal Fire.
