Lucky set to leave Astralis

The 19-year-old AWPer will be free to explore his options after his contract expires in May.

Philip "⁠Lucky⁠" Ewald has announced that his time with Astralis is coming to an end, as his contract with the organization is set to expire in the middle of May. Astralis have allowed the young Danish AWPer to search for new opportunities outside the organization.

Lucky was signed in August of 2021 to fill in the AWPing role vacated by Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz, who left Astralis to join Ninjas in Pyjamas earlier that year. Despite the signing, the Danish team continued to struggle to put up good results, most notably placing a mere 12th-14th at the PGL Major Stockholm.

What's next for Lucky?

After six months as a member of the starting lineup, Astralis decided it was time for a change in the AWPer role once again by placing Lucky on the bench and bringing in Asger "⁠Farlig⁠" Jensen as his replacement.

In a TwitLonger, Lucky explained his situation and expressed his gratitude to his team, stating that he couldn't wait to put everything he learned into his future endeavors. The young AWPer also stated that he missed playing professionally and is more motivated than ever to return to the top.

I'm happy to hear this, wish the best for the guy. Takes a lot of mental fortitude to land into what was likely his inspiration squad just to see a dumpster fire. Team lost everything and for quality of CSGO that his team mates delivered during that period I think he did well. Even above that. It's actually ridiculous how Astralis managed their roster. And Lucky imo hasn't even been given a chance to really show himself because he didn't fit the roster and style at all that was clear from the beginning. Hope he'll find a new team and could get a chance to really show himself

how astralis manage their roster? You think it's insane that astralis replaced a 0.89 average rated awper after 6 month of no improvement? Farlig had a 1.11 average rating in his 2nd ever tourney for Astralis and is clearly a massive upgrade. Why do people sperg out when Astralis does literally anything LMFAO teams replace bad players all the time. Mouz replaced NBK after like a month or so lol, Fnatic removed Smooya for being a dumbass, BIG removed Gade for being bad, literally so many examples.

Please read my comment carefully before bullyng me :D I said Lucky was not a good fit from the start. HE DIDN'T FIT THE TEAM and I knew that even when they signed hiim. So what I'm saying is that was a weird choice for the roster and that they ruined Bubzkij career for a bit and now they put Lucky in a very weird situation when he looks like a looser.
