Virtus.pro bench YEKINDAR and buster

After a period of turmoil that saw the team unable to compete under the VP banner, changes have been made.

Virtus.pro have today announced the moving of Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis and Timur "⁠buster⁠" Tulepov to inactive status, and that they are open to transfer offers for the players.

The move comes as no surprise, with Virtus.pro underperforming since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and YEKINDAR having spoken openly about the difficulties he has faced as a result of the international situation.

YEKINDAR leaving has been rumoured for some time

Virtus.pro have been one of many CIS teams affected by the current political environment, having seen their performance dip in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine. This is in no small part due to the increased pressure placed upon YEKINDAR, who found himself in the tough position of being from a European country, but playing for a Russian organisation with strong ties to the Kremlin.

YEKINDAR's unique situation was directly referenced in a recent interview with Virtus.pro general manager Sergei Glamazda.

Unsurprisingly, the situation led to much speculation regarding YEKINDAR's future, with the Latvian star making no secret of his uncertainty regarding moving forward with Virtus.pro.

As for the reasoning for the removal of buster, the announcement from Virtus.pro on their website states that "He needs a new challenge, while we need fresh ideas about the game."

It is not clear who will be replacing the two players, however the announcement also stated that "Virtus.pro has already made the decisions on the future of the roster. The club will introduce new players soon."

OG is a worse team, but much better fit for him than G2. And as for G2, I can't see him replacing anyone. If he replaced jackz, they will presumably run into mental problems. Jackz is needed as glue, so to speak. You need someone to balance the overly serious attitude of Niko, hunter & aleksib.

I'd rather see aleksib out before jackz. Aleksi had 0.86 rating, 57.7 adr and 14 kills per map in the legends stage. That's so bad. A lot of the time when the observer was on him and he died aleksi looked like he's never once sprayed a gun in this game before. Sometimes he wouldn't pull down his spray at all other times he would pull it down way too low and way too fast. The guy had a 34% hs in 9 maps and he's not an awper.

Yup, confirmed by himself in a monkey business show with N0tail and their media guy. He was kind of diplomatic, but it was very clear that OG fits him way better than G2. Much better mood in OG according to Nexa, which is nowhere near a surprise to me. I wouldn't be able to work in an environment of overly serious people with little to no humor, except laughing at the downfall of others, which really isn't humor to me. Niko denied help from a sport psychologist, which tells me he is in complete denial of his responsibility in the mental aspect of the game.

I agree. When he first came to the international scene he turned many heads with his aim and timings. But he was turned into boring home-sitting anchor and wasted his talent. I hope he still has fire on him to demonstrate his true skill. I strongly believe Jame should stop IGLing and just play as a star awp player. Get rid of that slow uber boring style and awp saving/donating all the time. All players of former Avangar were suffocating in that system.

I feel like the reason these two only got benched is because they both got offers from an org and are soon gonna release announcements for joining that org. At least that's what I hope is the case. It just feels too weird that FL1T didn't get benched because he performed worse then buster at the major imo.

Would love to see Yekindar at G2 but I don't know how they would sort that out. I assume replacing Jacks but that doesn't solve the issue with Aleksib so they would need to find someone to replace him as well.
