Evil Geniuses launch 'Blueprint' — a project featuring 15 players that they're saying will change the way North American talent is discovered and developed.

Evil Geniuses have announced the signing of the Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts rosters and the launching of a never-seen-before project aimed at helping bolster the deteriorating North American CS:GO scene and discovering and developing new talent.

They're calling it the Blueprint. It will first see the existing EG lineup and the two new teams compete under one umbrella at the same time, and by 2023 the organization plans to create a fluid 15-man roster.

Evil Geniuses are drawing inspiration from the success of their League of Legends structure, which also features two academy teams and through which they promoted two new players to the main roster late last year, and that went on to win the latest LCS season in North America.

The 10 newly-signed players will be housed in Seattle to benefit from EG's infrastructure at their headquarters, including their data and analytics team, who will use existing tools and find new ways to help their players develop their gameplay.

How this will work in practice is that, for now, the team around Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip will be the one competing at the elite-level events while the other two lineups will play in various other events such as in the recently announced Champion of Champions Tour, Danny Engels, EG's Director of Gaming Excellence, tells HLTV.org.

"The beauty of Counter-Strike is that we have so many different tournaments happening at once. It's not like the players are just waiting to get the shot in your Pro League and BLAST and Major," he says. "There are so many tournaments that we can play at once even to a world where we can have three Evil Geniuses teams playing at the very same time."

"Because of how the tournament circuit currently works and the scheduling set with BLAST straight into Pro League and then everything squeezed into the second half of the year, we expect the current five players to be the roster that will be competing in what you would call the main tournaments — with a small asterisk, because you never know what will happen on the way."

Engels says that the idea behind this is also to combat fatigue and the challenges of the never-ending CS:GO circuit, and make sure the team peaks at the most important events. Having three different teams will allow EG to prioritize and choose what roster plays where, and also have them train against one another in an environment that is typically difficult to find good practice in.

"The beauty of this approach is that you can fight tournament fatigue or rather you can focus on the tournaments that you wanna win, ideally, by also selecting the tournaments accordingly."

"It's a different approach from the fact that we do not see them as an academy team. We will to give the players a chance to shine and, on top of that, you will have a collective of players that can work together in order to become better and better."

"[With the] practice environment in North America not being on par, we basically take the infrastructure in-house and invest a lot of resources to make sure our practice allows us to catch up with the European counterparts."

PWNALONE GOT AN ORG BABY LET'S GOO interesting approach by EG here, only thing baffles me is the fact that main roster of theirs has defeated both of these teams in the past so how exactly would their players improve the main roster in the long run? well these teams still scrim against each other everyday, they dont really have much of a choice so getting an org doesnt really help that way. Getting an Org can actually either ignite a flame under them for improving more or make them more relaxed about grinding now they they have an org so its risky. Not many "young talents" in these 2 teams btw, and all thse guys have been grinding in NA for long that if there was talent , it probably already would have shown. Like it did with PA some time ago with Cynic and Infinite

Carpe Diem are all young players and have been doing really good in NA, I think there's definitely potential there Even though there's no insane talent like a zywoo, just allowing some NA teams to be able to attend more tournaments and even tournament overseas (because of the EG funding, they still need to qualify but it takes a lot of pressure off for the logistics) I think being with EG and having the chance to make it to the main team which can give more experience to certain players can help develop the talent. And also consistency could improve, and if the teams get stronger and more consistent it will elevate the level of the NA scene overall I think it's a good long term plan to help NA recover

I mean no team should ever lose to their academy roster. Academy rosters are used to nurture talent that may one day join the main roster.

I feel the signing of Party Astronauts is because they have signed bad contracts to the current EG lineup for at least 2-3 years. Instead of benching them, they can shuffle players not performing to the PA lineup and vice versa.

EG is saving NA (unlike cloud9), that is for sure. But saving should not mean paying players who are at best decent T3 players imo. That should not be EG's job. What i don't like about this whole thing is, that i hardly see any up and coming talents (let alone future superstars). whole PA mid 20s with long career in low level NA CS without that much success. I would rather see proper youngster academy team (like CIS/EU teams have) fighting within NA and hoping to see next oSee, elige or NAF next year, while main roster play whenever they can.
