The Australian will join G2 after a lengthy period of inactivity, taking the place of Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug.

Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage is set to sign with G2, according to reports by Dexerto and 1pv.fr. The transfer will mark the 26-year-old's return to activity after a prolonged period on Complexity's bench dating back to November 2021.

jks briefly showed his class at the beginning of 2022 when he stood in for both Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool and Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard at different stages of IEM Katowice during his time on the bench in Complexity. He became the first Australian to lift a Big Event trophy in Poland and had a notable output in FaZe's championship run, averaging a 1.14 rating across his 10 maps played.

The Australian rifler will take over JACKZ's place in G2's starting five, according to the reports, as the Frenchman had already been allowed to explore his options outside of G2 according to a previous report by 1pv.fr from July 17.

jks' transfer comes at a time of renewal in G2, as in-game leader Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen was also given freedom to search for new opportunities and the position for a new shot caller in Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam's squad is still open.

The ongoing roster revamp in G2 comes off the tail of a poor first season of 2022. The high expectations after the signings of coach XTQZZZ, in-game leader Aleksib, and AWPer Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov were met at IEM Katowice, where the team made the grand final, but results quickly devolved from there on.

Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and company failed to make the PGL Major Antwerp playoffs and then lost to FURIA in the IEM Dallas quarter-finals, ending their run in 5-6th place. A small respite came in the form of a semi-final finish at the BLAST Premier Spring Final, but it proved to be a mirage as G2 ended on a downer with a 9-12th place finish at IEM Cologne.

G2's roster is shaping up as follows:

I love Justin mf-ing SAVAGE, yet NiKo is about to destroy his career. Just as he did with anyone else. JKS has to be a star player and have his freedom and that ain't happening in a team with ChoKo and his beloved cousin. I don't think JKS is past his prime as many tend to say, i just don't think the latest teams/rosters he plays for or stands-in can really implement him properly since they already have so called "playmakers". Honestly, he belongs to AU. With his and AZR experience they can build a very solid team as Aussies have plenty of young talent. They've done it in the past even with mediocre and inconsistent awper like Gratisfaction.

Speaking of twitter, check your comment history and shut the f up. This ain't twitter. JKS did little above average as a stand-in, understandably considering he haven't played in a while. Don't make it look as if he played godlike/out of his mind. Also 1.14 rating doesn't mean much when your team dominates throughout the entire tournament in a convincing fashion. Also, it was under Karrigans leadership, not ChoKo whining and God knows who they're going to aquire to fill the IGL role, probably someone ChoKo would call over. It wont work even if they magically manage to sign Gla1ve/BlameF. -JKS in under 6 months. Just sayin, he'd be "the problem". Everyone around ChoKo seems to be "the problem" but choko himself.

well if you read the rules then you would see that baiting isnt allowed on HLTV forums. i believe that monesy will surpass s1mple if he becomes a rifler and doesnt have the constraints of an awper. devve is good at both but he has proven himself as an awper already. niko is not only the worlds best rifler, he is the worlds best IGL and that is undisputable.

NiKo, m0nesy and whoever the IGL is will be the entry/attack and jks and hunter will play flanking roles, makes sense to me assuming the igl is someone who can play an attacking role. jks excels as a defensive CT anchor, he's actually one of the best at that role, and that is where G2 failed badly. It seems like they can make it work.

downgrade lol, jks is a huge upgrade over jackz. jks was consistently one of the best defensive players in the world in 2019 and 2020, he was in hltv top 20 both years while playing that role. G2 don't need more offensive attack, NiKo, m0nesy and whoever else they get are clearly going to be used for that, hunter and jks to flank. G2's biggest problem was that jackz was an absolute liability as a CT.

It's not a bad move and jks certainly isn't a bad player. But I can't help but feel that his stock has been massively exaggerated through a single tournament in which he joined the most competitive team who communicate in his native language. Look at the other stand-in's this year. Pretty much all performed well. He's good but I don't think he's good enough to add anything extra to this G2 team imo. Interested to see though

Well for 200k that sounds reasonable actually but idk that sounds way too little asking price for someone that has a big org knocking door vs an org struggling to get hold of needed (good) players, feels like this alone is like a 100K-150K factor that G2 is willing to overpay right now and Complexity isn't in a state they happily throw players away for discounts. At least the situation both teams are in, makes me think he should go for higher, not because of his performance necessarily (obviously he hasn't played a lot, not that solid numbers of recent times to provide a clear track record obviously keeps it down a bit but still)

Not totally sure about this move... PRO : Calm and mature. Already proved that he can slot right into a team. Pragmatic playing style CONS : Jks is turning 27 this year and he is at his peak or has already peaked and is on his decline. He has not posted a good hltv rating nor has he been in a active team lineup for several years (over 2 y) and he is now expected to win titles this year with G2. JKS has always posted better numbers online than on LAN ( even tho he had a great time with faze ) This seems more like a direct fix to things than a long term plan. Lets hope for the best!

jks was really good with faze, but the level of igl faze has and g2 is a complete different story. I dont see this working, because niko will not give enough room for jks to play his game, you also have a very young talent m0nesy who requires room in order to develop. i dont really see igl other than karrigan that can make this team work. wouldve been cool to see jks instead of niko and yekindar instead of jackz. that way m0nesy will get enough room to use the big gun like s1mple and zywoo. they would fit aleksi's style much better as well. gl though

Dude was unlucky af, that's all.Standing in for faze showed us it s a different thing when you play on a team with a good structure, a good system, no more shitty roles etc.Not everybody can be a top 20 player no matter how the team is doing or what role they have.He might not be top 20 material, but he is definitely a decent player, and over jackz ? I don't know role wise, but aim wise he is 3 levels above him lol.However, if they plan to use him as the bitch of the team again, wich considering how many good players they have they probably will, it will be a big mistake and i think they should take somebody else.

This might work really well depending on how they end up meshing as a team, and also if they get a IGL that will work well with Niko., Which at this point seems to be quite a challenge.
