Apeks sign shox

The Frenchmen returned to Europe by joining the Norwegian organization.

Apeks have finalized their roster with the addition of Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, the 30-year-old Frenchmen who joins the international squad after a short stint with Liquid.

Upon his signing, the veteran commented that he aims to share his breadth of experience with the younger players on the team and help Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk transition to the in-game leader role with the ultimate goal of Apeks becoming a tier 1 team.

"After my time in Team Liquid, I needed a break to recover from the exhausting schedule we had. I needed to make sure my head was healthy before joining a new team," shox said in a statement for the team website before thanking the team for the opportunity to compete at the top level.

"I will try to bring my knowledge and experience of the game to help STYKO in his new role. I know he can become a great in-game leader," shox added, before expanding that he is also looking to support the young players on the team, something he was credited for during his stint in Vitality. "My goal for this team is to create good chemistry between everyone and work step by step to become a solid tier 1 team."

STYKO takes up IGL mantle for Apeks

Anders Kjær, Apeks' Head of Esports, stated that the spring season was a disappointment for Apeks, leading the organization to do "a lot of research in the market to find the right players so we can reach our ambitious goals."

Ultimately, Apeks settled on signing Justinas "⁠jL⁠" Lekavicius, shox, and new coach Jakub "⁠kuben⁠" Gurczyński to replace Asger "⁠AcilioN⁠" Larsen, Hugo "⁠chawzyyy⁠" Günther and former head coach Pål "⁠Polly⁠" Kammen, who remained a part of Apeks' coaching staff. The team's first challenge will be the IEM Rio Major open qualifiers, kicking off on August 15.
