nqz and try complete team swap

The two snipers have officially traded places on 9z and 00NATION ahead of the 2023 season.

9z and 00NATION have announced a swap in players between the two organisations. Lucas "nqz" Soares formally makes the jump to Marcelo "coldzera" David's team whilst Santino "try" Rigal returns to his former home of two years in 9z.

9z send nqz to 00NATION in swap deal for try - Report

The moves also confirm prior reports from early January, which stated that a player exchange between the organisations was imminent despite nqz also being in talks to join Fluxo at the time.

try will play under the 9z banner once again

nqz leaves 9z after spending the past six months with the team. In that time, the Brazilian sniper stood tall as the squad's highest-rated player with a 1.19 rating to his name. The 17-year-old youngster was particularly important in powering the South American side to an IEM Rio Major berth, where he put up a 1.17 rating in the team's third-place run through the IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR to qualify for the Major on their home continent.

try, meanwhile, goes the other way and departs 00NATION to link back up with 9z, who he previously represented from February 2020-January 2022. The Argentine was one of the more stalwart players in the Brazilian ensemble despite the team's numerous setbacks. He ended his time under the wings of coldzera and company with a solid 1.13 rating and was the only member of the lineup to end the IEM Rio Major Challenger Stage with a 1.00+ showing.

00NATION now have the following players on their books:

Brazil Marcelo "coldzera" David
Brazil Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer
Brazil Bruno "latto" Rebelatto
Brazil Epitacio "TACO" de Melo
Brazil Lucas "nqz" Soares

Brazil Olavo "chucky" Napoleão (coach)

While 9z's lineup is made up of:

Uruguay Franco "dgt" Garcia
Uruguay Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez
Chile David "dav1deuS" Tapia Maldonado
Argentina Nicolás "buda" Kramer
Argentina Santino "try" Rigal

Argentina Martin "rox" Molina (benched)

It's a pretty big deal in terms of roster changes for the SA scene. This site is after all a hub for counter strike news and discussion.

Don't know about that. Yes, nqz was the best player on the roster for sure. But try was the best by a WIDE margin when leaving 9z, and certainly one of the best on 00 roster, now he'll be able to play and communicate in his native tongue aswell, so it might be an even better display ahead of him.

try was the most consistent player in 00 squad he put up positive ratings against astralis, faze, liquid, spirit, furia and was the only player with positive numbers in the challenger stage and the most % of 1v1 clutch duels won out of all 00 players.

Try tried to return to 9z a few months ago and 00 took the opportunity to make the change for Nqz . What impresses me is that Nqz choose 00 instead fluxo. At the end i guess that Felps, lucaozy and nqz would be better than dumau, Nqz and another one

Both players extremely young, little experience, but performed well in the few occasions they had a t1 tournaments (i.e. major). We cannot know which one (if not both) will be the next big thing but I'd argue they have the same potential. I think the trade makes a lot of sense since the two teams have roughly the same strength and, even though it was probably not the main issue, this swap will definitely improve comms which should help longterm. No matter how well try spoke BR-PT and nqz spoke LA-SP, it'll never be the same as speaking your mother tongue.
