Media: NiKo set to join Falcons

After weeks of speculation, one of Counter-Strike's superstar riflers is allegedly set to make a blockbuster move.

Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač is on the verge of leaving G2 to sign for Falcons for a buyout worth millions, according to a report by neL of 1pv.fr. This follows speculation that has been circling for some time that the Bosnian has been in talks with the Saudi organization.

The report also mentioned that G2 are listening to offers for Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov, and should a move for the Russian AWPer take place it would also be priced in the millions, but that nothing is close yet.

Rumours have been circulating that NiKo would move to Falcons for weeks, with Sebastien "⁠KRL⁠" Perez recently stating on HLTV Confirmed that G2 were not looking to re-sign the 26-year-old because they were unable to continue offering him the same salary.

Prior rumors had also linked m0NESY with a move to Falcons alongside NiKo, as the Russian starlet was allegedly keen to continue playing with the Bosnian rifler. G2’s General Manager came out to explicitly deny such a move would take place, saying that G2 "are not looking to sell m0NESY at any price."

NiKo has spent the last three years with G2, during which time he secured a litany of top placings at Big Events, including taking second at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and securing trophies at IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne this year. He also grabbed a placing in the top-five of the HLTV top 20 list in each year he spent with the squad.

Despite the success he experienced, G2 were still unable to produce the kind of dominance to match NiKo's superlative talents, and his list of trophies from the three years he spent on FaZe earlier in his career dwarfs what he achieved with G2.

The organization invested in the team multiple times to improve their fortunes, building around NiKo, but were unable to do better than a smattering of trophies and a handful of weeks sat at the top of the world rankings. Most notably, G2 were unable to win a Major during NiKo’s tenure, meaning the player’s CS:GO legacy will forever be lacking the most prestigious accolade that was on offer.
