NiKo to stay with G2 in shock U-turn
The Bosnian ace is going nowhere despite reports linking him with Falcons.

Nikola "NiKo" Kovač has decided to stay with G2, the organization has announced. This last-minute development sees Falcons miss out on one of their main transfer targets as they look to build a world-class team for 2024.
The Bosnian star had been widely expected to join Falcons, with a November 2 report suggesting that a deal was all but done. But in a stunning turn of events, NiKo has committed his future to G2, his home since November 2020.
“Happy to put an end to all the rumors, gossip and speculations with the final verdict - NiKo is here to stay at G2,” G2 General Manager Petar "peca" Marković told HLTV.org. “As previously mentioned, we are of the firm opinion that he plays an incredibly unique role in our team that would be hard to replace, and we're thrilled to announce that we've reached an agreement for him to remain with our team.
“Retaining the key player that helped us to clinch victories at two prestigious tournaments in 2023, we are eager to discover what successes the near future holds for us.”
Falcons had hoped to sign NiKo and make him the cornerstone of their team as they look to fill the four vacancies in their squad. After appointing Danny "zonic" Sørensen as head coach, the Saudi organization has reportedly already reached agreements with Emil "Magisk" Reif and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer.

The future of G2’s lineup remains one of the burning questions of this rostermania period as many teams look to strengthen their rosters ahead of the PGL Copenhagen Major. peca has told HLTV.org that the organization will not entertain offers for Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who was also rumored to be high on Falcons’ wishlist.
According to a report by 1pv.fr, ENCE's Álvaro "SunPayus" García and Cloud9 benched player Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov are both on Falcons' list of transfer targets.
G2 have only one more event to attend before the end of the year, the BLAST Premier World Final, where they will be looking to defend the title they won in 2022. The team recently finished in the top four at IEM Sydney 2023, the first Big Event in Counter-Strike 2.
