Media: MartinezSa set to join 9z

The Spaniard will complete 9z's roster ahead of the 2024 season.

Martinez will no longer wear the Riders jersey, according to a report

Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez is set to depart Movistar Riders for 9z, according to a report by SheepEsports.

The change would mark the second in the last month for Movistar Riders, who lost long-time captain Alejandro "alex" Masanet to Ninjas in Pyjamas and brought back David "dav1g" Granado Bermudo to take the reigns.

dav1g returns to Movistar Riders' starting lineup

MartinezSa has been on the Spanish organization's books since August 2022 when he arrived as a replacement for the ENCE-bound Álvaro "SunPayus" García. He has been the team's highest-rated player this year, averaging a 1.11 rating, but results have wavered for the team as a whole.

A title victory at ESL Challenger Melbourne in April and recent 5-8th place finish at ESL Pro League Season 18 are two of the only bright spots in an otherwise frustrating year for the Jinetes, with their online performances often suffering compared to LAN.

9z have been in search of an AWPer since Santino "try" Rigal stepped down from their active roster due to health issues in October. The Argentine organization was originally heavily interested in signing Lucas "nqz" Soares from Legacy, but ultimately lost the bid for the Brazilian sniper to paiN.

With MartinezSa, 9z would be:

Uruguay Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez
Uruguay Franco "dgt" Garcia
Argentina Nicolás "buda" Kramer
Chile Matias "HUASOPEEK" Ibañez Hernandez
Spain Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez

Brazil Gustavo "tge" Motta (coach)

Argentina Santino "try" Rigal (inactive)

I hope they don't become another one of those teams that move to a different region and then just gradually get all their foreign players replaced with local players.

Movistar is an one-time wonder team. It just plays a random LAN event, going deep and becomes a shadow of itself. For him to leave that team is better, and 9z isn't bad at all

random LAN? Check their record. Movistar plays way more tier 1 tournaments and have deeper runs. The only positive factor in 9z are the major qualifiers.

9z is relocating to spain for 2024. 9z vs movistar in spanish leagues will mean movi could get much less relavant due to them not being insta best spanish team of the country. -> less quals, less t1 tourneys. 9z has much more fingers in SA scene, can export talent to europe who are willing to go and getting spanish talents from spain at the same time. movistar is not doing good moves for months, even years. good for martinez to leave, he can always literally always come back.

dude movistar own 9z. If martinez had stayed it was easy spot for movistar riders. Anyway Esl Spain does not exist anymore. The clasico for movistar is sAw not 9z. Riders faced 9z like 4 times and won 3 (only lost 1 in 2 OT). In the other hand, they faced sAw/Giants like 30 times and they are even +/-. The only thing 9z had was SA qualifiers and they'll lost them due to moving to EU (I k they could play those but they would have to travel to SA just to play the qualys). Movistar is a bettter team and org. 9z pay higher salaries thats all. What roster changes did movi bad? - Deathzz was cause of actittude issues. The only move that can be consider as "bad" was sausol cause things didnt work out.

lmao how does Movistar own 9z? lost 2-0 against a brand new roster, then won at EPL this year and almost lost with 9z playing with their coach TWICE. imagine losing a map against a team playing with their coach

Galicians are wayyyyy inferior than south americans, the only time MR won against 9z it was when they were playing with the coach, lol

Galicia is just a region of Spain, and there are no galicians on the MR roster Also fyi, MR hasn't lost against 9z since feb 2022, and won against them in EPL, where they had their full roster, so I wouldn't say they're "wayyyyyy inferior" Don't get me wrong, I like 9z, but if they bought nqz instead of Martinez, Riders would win 7/10 times

Galicians because you all Spaniards hate that, the same way you call them Sudakas we call you Galicians. 9Z won to MR with Luken as awp ... and he's not a main awp, just saying.. the latest games were played with the coach as sub.

I've never in my life heard someone call them "sudakas" outside of old degenerate people, so don't say things like that because those are just not true 9z won to MR in feb 2022, in an online game. In sept 2023 they played against each other in epl, where MR won and both teams had their entire roster

They arent "Galicians" and they've won majority of times they faced each other. Only lost once in a very chaotic game with OTs. Movistar has played way more t1 events. Better and more deepruns. Better and more stablished org. Better players historically and in the present (Mixwell, Lowel, SunPayus, Smooya, Alex, Mopoz, Steel, AdamS, MartinezSA, etc) Better infrastructure (MEC) Etc

all of the ones you mentioned are overrated garbage who were lucky to have better teams, where are them now? Alex in NIP we know it's going to fail, as I said, maybe sunpayus and that's because he went to ENCE, not because the spanish scene itself which is pure garbage.

lmao if spanish scene is garbage then Argentinian scene is absolutly dead. try played for tier 2-3 00Nation and 9z Luken is a fraud who never played in the tier 1 scene Meyern got the opportunity on mibr and did shit. How brave are you to talk about spanish scene.

Spanish cs is worst than latam cs, I'm not saying latam cs is the best, but Spaniards then to think because they are in EU they are relevant, no, in EU is relevant CIS and Denmark, maybe Sweden, that's about it, rest of them tier 5.

Spaniards dont think they are relevant. Its just a fact that they are way better than Latam and its stupid to think otherwise based on all cs history till today. Better players, teams, archivements, etc. Ofc they are nothing compared to big cs nations like Denmark or Sweden but it is normal, cs isnt even top 3 most played game in Spain.

maybe they dont consider martinez worth it. They offered +10K to SunPa trying to retain him and failed, so yeah, they have the money for the right ones. I suppose they have made also money with Alex departure but dunno.

They were top team back then, so probably it made more sense. Zack was joking the other day but he said maybe 9z gives him 4x more, which sound like he mean it, so maybe they pay something around 15? No idea but they downgraded a lot without try and davideus and they need to secure major spot and there's no better awper who can speak spanish, so it makes sense they want to give him a good offer, money wise.

Based on what Smooya said when left Movistar, martinez was prob getting paid between 3-4k so it would be 12-16k. What is it actually more than what SunPayus is currently winning, 13k. (atleast he was getting that when he signed with Ence) . Crazy numbers for an org like 9z tbh

Poor movistar riders being stripped for parts. I feel bad for Spanish fans, so much talent on boring international lineups.

If martinez accepted the offer it is because he will earn more. But how on earth can 9z pay more than Riders when the Argentine peso is dead? 1 euro = 396 Argentine peso (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Even tho Movistar is a bigger company their budget for csgo is so small. 9z put all their money in this game.
