Americas RMR attendees finalized as South American closed qualifier concludes

With only seven spots up for grabs, one 3-2 team was left high and dry in the closed bracket.

dav1deuS bested his former 9z teammates to reach the RMR

The final day of play of the South America closed qualifier for the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR has drawn to a close, seeing five teams earn their place in Monterrey, Mexico.

MIBR, Legacy, BESTIA, RED Canids one win away from Americas RMR

The first two sides to lay claim to some of the spots available in the South American closed qualifier were MIBR and Legacy. The Brazilian squads did so with 3-0 records, with BESTIA and RED Canids, respectively, serving as the final hurdles en route to their qualification.

The first batch of teams to join the likes of MIBR and Legacy at the RMR were Imperial, ODDIK, and BESTIA, who each secured qualification through victories in the 2-1 pool of matches.

While all three of these games were hotly contested, Imperial's duel with paiN proved to be particularly notable, as the latter squad broke down a commanding 12-0 lead from Imperial on Anubis. Despite these heroics from paiN, it was not enough to claim the 3-1 record as Imperial managed to compose themselves in overtime.

South America's final contributions to the Americas RMR were rounded out by paiN and RED Canids, who faced a more complicated route to qualify compared to those with 3-0 or 3-1 records. With only two spots remaining, the winner of the 2-2 match with the highest combined Bucholz score would snag a guaranteed place at the RMR, while the remaining two squads duked it out for the final spot.

In the end, it was paiN who skipped the deciding match, with their win over Case in the 2-2 pool earning them that honor. This left 9z and RED Canids to tussle for the last available place at the RMR. After a tight two-map affair with duplicate 19-16 scorelines, RED Canids came out on top, leaving 9z in the dust to round out the list of Americas RMR attendees.

Luken came into the team after retiring from playing professionally, didn't like it there, and 9z fans wanted his head after he underperformed previous to him leaving, then he retired from professional CS again after that. CS fans really aren't smart.

Players from BESTIA won't go play for 9z, they're already well-paid and expensive.

It would be lucky if he had a decent performance. Surely they will drop him now, it's the second major he is dragging them down.

More money, easiest path to rmr (unluko), org eager to compete... and probably riders project was on the red line because alex and later bladE left, rumors they will get a fusion with another org, no clear lines on the mid/long future...probably a bit like twistzz with Faze, future of the org was unclear with no good communication to players, so Alex, him and bladE decided to leave the boat before it sinks. Funnily movistar koi looks more alive than ever lol

No idea, rumors pointed he would get 3x, so instead than 4-5k he would move to around 12k. Argentina is a mess economically too so I don't know where they make the money, probably stickers made some cash but don't know.

do you think -stadodo +MartinezSa is a realistic move? I did't follow the spanish/portugese scene closely but MartinezSa is the better player no? Now as KOI does look good/alive again maybe he want's to transfer back

Don't think so, he has a new shinny contract and he's the best 9z player, so unless he has something to break it, koi is not gonna break the bank, at least for now that they got into rmr and the team is playing good for a T3 team. Probably he's crying now because he moved there to get an easier path to rmr and hoping the team was on riders level, but riders step up while 9z plays like a pug team, plus they said they would move to Spain to play in Europe but is not happening for now, so not really sure if martinez is gonna be happy to stay in Argentina. Unluko I guess. Spanish mens are not quite happy with stadodo, it's true that he misses some ez shots and doesn't have best rating, but he's in a new team with new language and he doesn't shut down after he miss for three rounds, his gamesense is good, so he need more time to show if he can step up. He'll never be on martinez (future top20) level, but if the team works better...don't think KOI wants to break the bank to get into top10 or whatever.

Only Spaniards think "easier path to major" about SA qualifier .. 9Z played almost 12 hours the same day and the last match happened after 1am, is that an easier path? plus they need to win in Mexico to other teams, I honestly don't think they would've made it anyways, as they are a new team, and they also always play 4 vs 5 because for some obscure reason Frankkaster loves to hire a bot as a fifth (rox, buda).

On the first open qualifier KOI played for 12h straight too, if you think it's harder to play vs RED CANIDS, ODDK or sharks than play vs Heroic, Amkal, Spirit, 9ine or Entropiq... Btw 9z was already on the closer qualifier, so ofc it's "easier" path than KOI who lost star and shuffled half of the team, anyone can see it, lol PS: easier doesn't equal to granted

9Z also shuffled half of the team and lost 2 stars (try and dav1d which was the main reason why 9Z didn't qualify) imagine if instead of heroic you guys would have played NIP with ALEX, I'm not saying NIP is the best team ever tho, but playing against an opponent that knows you better than 10000 hours of demos is hard, there are less spots in SA as well.. I agree with you that the RMR of Europe (A or B) has way harder teams, but you have more spots, you have 32 teams between the 2 RMR (agree that some of these spots were reserved for teams like G2, FaZe, etc) while SA + NA has only 16, so the "easy path" to the major, IDK I'm not sure about it it might be if 9Z would have been the best team in the region, but they were coming from a change as well, or maybe if you get the weakest teams in your path you could do it and there are no surprises like Legacy or Oddik (games that 9Z should have won in paper). Anyways, good luck to KOI and Bestia, they will have to fight hard to make it to the major.

this RMR will highlight how trash this fake swiss format is where losing a single bo1 already put the team a series away from elimination, and since Liquid ended up with a bad seed, you can expect one of the favourites (Furia, Col, Mibr and Liquid) to be eliminated losing against two of those teams, as with this format there doesn't even need to be an upset for it to happen

9z robbed. Had to play CS for 14 hours in a single day, 3 Bo3s, all of them with overtime, just because they lost 2 Bo1s earlier on. They won 2 Bo3s 2-0 and still got a shit seed which forced them to play a third match which began past midnight. Great organization, PGL.

Legacy was a fluke, for sure. ODDIK has been on the rise, so maybe luck would have carried them there on BO3... maybe.

We need more spots for America! Imo we have more than 5 good teams. Cheering for furia, liquid, col, mibr and pain!!
