Grayhound beat Rooster to qualify for IEM Dallas

The Australian giants did not drop a single map en route to qualification.

Grayhound return to Dallas for the second year in a row

The Oceania closed qualifier for IEM Dallas 2024 has come to a close, with Grayhound setting aside Rooster 2-0 to secure their place at the American LAN event. Christopher "dexter" Nong's charges join a slew of invited squads as the first qualified team for the event, with four more qualifying spots still up for grabs..

After making their way through the first open qualifier with ease, Grayhound continued to make light work of their opponents in the closed qualifier. They beat Bad News Kangaroos and Rooster (twice) without dropping a map to claim their place at IEM Dallas.

Grayhound have booked tickets to a number of top events in the coming months, with their IEM Dallas qualification coming just a month after their victory in IEM Chengdu 2024's Oceania closed qualifier. Meanwhile, their win at ESL Australia & NZ Championship Season 17 towards the end of 2023 also earned the squad a place in ESL Pro League Season 19.

While Grayhound will be looking forward to those events, their focus is no doubt set on the impending PGL Major Copenhagen Asia RMR, slated to begin in just a matter of days on February 26. Here, the Australian side will be tussling with the likes of The MongolZ, Lynn Vision, and TYLOO for just two places at PGL Major Copenhagen.

I cant understand why oceania gets their own cq. Just give it to asia and let Oceanian teams compete there? I honestly wouldnt be so mad if they beat all the promising asian teams to get there, but they are literally farming silvers, whats the point?

because they probs pay for them to fly out of Australia? there was an event hosted online in guam that had decent ping for all of asia including Australia but i dont see the industry adopting that anytime soon hltv.org/events/7691/lpl-oneqode-frontie..

Mb bcs are they located in Asia and not in Oceania? Its the same thing that say furia is eu team, bcs they play here. And not because they just have a bootcamp here

Why is everybody I see talking about Grayhound so certain they are a waste of time? People used to be at least a little hopeful before and now they've got dexter as the igl and erkast as the coach.

CS players love talking about how they want to see more teams outside America, EU and CIS, but cry as soon as they qualify... like them being able to qualify is an indicator of their skills, if the Asian or OCE teams didn't qualify then the last team to go out instead would just get the same insults as them. Big deal if the OCE teams don't always win, at least they made it to a S-tier TO unlike the haters

What’s the point of having Asian/Australian teams if they will get BTFOd in a 2-0 fashion at any international tournament? Wasted spots for EU teams.
