The tenured Dane reunites with ex-teammates Magisk and zonic, making Falcons a majority-Danish squad.

dupreeh joins forces once again with Magisk and zonic, with whom he won multiple Majors

Falcons have announced the signing of Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen, bringing to pass a move that was reported by HLTV last week. The 31-year-old will fill the roster spot left vacant by the recent benching of Mohammad "⁠BOROS⁠" Malhas.

Media: Falcons in early talks over dupreeh

dupreeh was recently plying his trade for Preasy, having joined at the end of 2023 with the aim of qualifying for PGL Major Copenhagen. However, the team fell short of that goal as they crashed out of the Europe RMR with a 1-3 record following losses to HEROIC, OG and Guild Eagles.

The Dane arrives in Falcons to serve as a permanent replacement for the recently-benched BOROS, who was dropped from the squad in the aftermath of the team's failed qualification campaign for the Major. The Saudi organization signed Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev from Natus Vincere on a month-long loan for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, but the short-term deal was not extended when it expired on March 19.

By joining Falcons dupreeh has reunited with former teammates Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif and Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen, players with whom dupreeh won multiple Majors and created an era as part of Astralis. zonic and dupreeh also went on to win another Major together on Vitality, before the latter was benched by the team in what zonic described as "hands down the toughest decision" he had made in his career.

Falcons are next set to take to the server for ESL Pro League Season 19, due to take place April 23-May 12, with the team being placed in Group B alongside the likes of G2 and, interestingly, Vitality. Falcons' Danish trio will, therefore, be set for an early faceoff against the team they all departed last year.

anyone who has sacrificed time/money/family time to grind, reach faceit lvl 10, actually make it out of the faceit shit-hole, and continue persevering playing pro at tier3, and continue persevering in t3 for a few years and maybe t2, and t1, deserves the paycheck they want. You, myself, and 95% of hltv commters do not have the discipline, drive, nor ability to reach tier3 pro level CS (which is incredibly difficult to achieve, let alone t2 or t3), so we do not deserve to get paid to play cs.

yeah that coL stand-in stint was spectacularly awful, at that point he was declining, yes, but he was still expected to be a good rifler and considering he used to be the best rifle in the world, putting up a 0.96 rating and worse stats over multiple series than s1mple putting up a 0.94 and better stats in a single bo3 in his first time rifling in a couple years seems like s1mple cannot be the worst stand-in

hmm maybe. I do remember now that it has been brought up that coL was just a hopeless mess and people hoped Coldzera could save them. think this was a surprise move too like a matter of days or something. same with s1mple to be fair. But I dont think people really believed one player could do it all alone. With Falcons and the investment and the players and the expectations they put on themselves, the Arab oil funding, player luxury treatment, major winning ambitions and s1mple on top of that. I think this looks way worse and more embarassing. Although we are discussing the worst stint and performance/investment, not the rest of the team or org. Maybe I am recency biased too, but if someone has the numbers, how much he cost and how he much he provided, idk these numbers. But in terms of expectations vs reality I think Falcons s1mple failure was way funnier and more embarassing. Once a line is crossed you can’t go back. The line was already crossed in the last team and he got a second chance and he fucked up again. Still shitty to put it in a vlog. But for the team chemistry it’s probably better to just sell him. The other players and Zonic are used to professionalism and they can’t really understand someone who can’t be professional on their level. So in the end it’s best for everyone. There was so much hype about this team when the Saudis went big, but now it's basically fused 2023 ence and 2023 vitality, and it's weird. Experience may be important in this game but once you get older your reflexes get slower etc. Let's be real, and the contrast between him and Boros is so stark, why would you swing the pendulum the other way? I hate to say it but dupreeh will never win another major, he should have retired after Paris 2023 imho.

Retire? Just getting to the top 16 at a major gets you paid extremely well. Dupreeh is better than at least 50% of the players that made it there. People act like you're either a top 20 player or completely washed up garbage that should stop playing.

I base this only on the fact that Dupreeh doesn't really care about the money, he cares about the achievements and the glory etc. If this is what he is striving for then it makes sense that he stops when he's past his best, and focuses on channelling his abilities to achieve new heights in other areas. Not only that, if I felt I had a couple of years left, I'm not sure this weird frankenstein creation of a team is where you'll shine. Sure, joining up with Sonic and Magisk seems like the best shot you have, but the roles in the team just don't make sense when you look at the players. After Paris 2023 would have been a good time to bow out with dignity.

Sure, anyone who has an opinion that is different to yours is stupid. I don't actually disagree with your points, and you are missing mine. I do think he's good enough to play in a top 10 team and it's clear he wants to play still, but he has also made it clear in plenty of interviews what his goals are, and that he wants to play TO KEEP WINNING MAJORS and extending his record etc., but I just expressed that I think this roster will fail and therefore he will not achieve his goals. in fact I don't think he will achieve anything close to winning a major. I won't blame him for trying but it is my personal opinion that he should have retired after he left Vitality and his best option was to join Preasy. Oh and while you're being his knight in shining armour I should also let you know I actually like the guy and want him to succeed.

I mostly agree with you, but there is no evidence of reflexes getting slower before you are in your 40s, so this is typically not a factor before you are 40-50 yo. The only relevant reason many players peak at their early or mid 20s and begin to play worse stats-wise when nearing 30s is because they start having other things in life that they want to spend time on, meaning they are no longer willing to live and breath CS all day every day as they did in teenage and in their early 20s, and would rather treat CS more like a traditional job in terms of how much time they are willing to put in it. They simply lose the spark that they had when they were younger si they no longer maintain top individual form, which at some point, despite their experience, causes them to perform worse than the new kids who lack the years of experience but have that spark so they play way more and are thus in sick form all the time.

When I seen this team was coming, I was excited for another competitive tier 1 team. Now that I've seen Zonic playing favourites, I'm leaning towards enjoying their downfall. You had a young prodigy in Boros, but instead of proving you're an elite coach and developing him into a star player, you've gone and signed a 30 year old, past his prime player. If these kind of signings+ their results don't show you all, that that Astralis core carried Zonic as a coach idk what will.

+1, I don't blame Zonic at all for leaving vitality but the reasons he gave for taking the Arabic bag are not very consistent with these recent changes in falcons, I cant help but lose a little respect for him not to mention have little faith for this project.
