ESL has revealed the groups and opening matches for the $250,000 IEM Chengdu LAN event, set to take place April 8-14.

The Chinese tournament will see the 16 teams split across two double-elimination groups, where the opening matches will be Bo1. Group winners will advance directly to the semi-finals, while second and third in each group progress to the quarter-finals. The playoffs will utilize a single-elimination Bo3 bracket.

Liquid and Wildcard to replace Complexity and M80 at IEM Chengdu

The two highest-ranked teams in attendance according to HLTV's world ranking, FaZe and MOUZ, find themselves split into groups B and A respectively, meaning the two sides cannot meet before the playoffs.

Unfortunately for fans of Chinese CS the two Chinese squads, Lynn Vision and TYLOO, have been placed in the same group and are on the same side of the bracket, meaning there is a good chance one will eliminate the other from the tournament.

One of the most fascinating opening matchups will pit Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller against his old teammates as Liquid are set to take on HEROIC to kick off group A.
