paiN replace Preasy at Global Esports Tour Rio

The Brazilian side is the highest-ranked squad set to attend the event.

Global Esports Tour has announced that paiN will be attending its $200,000 event in Rio, set to go down April 18-20, with Dust2 Brasil confirming with the organizer that the Brazilians will appear instead of Preasy.

paiN join fellow South American sides MIBR, FURIA, Imperial and 9z on the team list, with European squads Monte, Metizport and OG also set to attend.

ex-Preasy coach Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg posted to X/Twitter in the wake of the announcement saying his team had turned down other opportunities to attend the event. The Danish team was dropped by the Preasy organization on April 1 after a potential buyer backed out of a deal.

However, the organizers told Dust2 Brasil that ex-Preasy were not in line to attend the tournament as the contract to compete was signed with the Preasy organization.

According to the organizers, Preasy wanted to send their new lineup, which previously competed as Preasy Rising, to the tournament. The organizers also told Dust2 Brasil that they were in communication with the Preasy organization and not the players. This is, however, disputed by Vorborg, who told HLTV that he has a WhatsApp conversation with the organizers informing them that the team would participate with the same lineup as originally intended.

The exact five-man lineup that will participate in the tournament for paiN is not clear, as Vinicius "n1ssim" Pereira recently returned to Sharks after his loan deal with paiN expired. The Brazilian organization stated it was in negotiations to sign n1ssim from Sharks on a permanent basis.

+1 But even with their new awper , they could make damage in this tournament.. sad We don´t have too much data, but they with this new awper got better results and easier maps than with dupreeh... just because of reallyt having all the roles done now..

I feel terrible for them. Especially Roej and Refrezh, feel bad they couldn’t make it stick anywhere. I think they have good quality.

I mean I get that the TO would want to use this opportunity to get all the bennefits of replacing an orgless team with Pain, who is probably the most hyped br team atm but assuming Vorbog is telling the truth (I don't see why he would lie about it), they done it in a terrible and unprofessional way...

RIP, but both solution were bad, playing as the talent squad or as orgless ex-Preasy.

It will be great to see Pain in the tournament. But I have to acknowledge that the TO was two-faced to replace ex-Preasy for a more hyped SA team.

"Peasy's CEO was notified more than 2 hours before we invited PaiN. There would be no way for Peasy to participate with the academy team, since according to the championship rules, there cannot be a replacement of more than 2 players from the originally registered line." - This is the TO on twitter idk why they had to announce it so quickly but it sounds relatively reasonable to me

I mean, as an organizer point of view, I see why u would replace an invitation from an orgless team. But why wouldn't u inform the players before u make it public, it's not that hard to make things right...

because they invited the Preasy org, and those players are not part of the org anymore, if anyone would have to tell the players it would be Preasy, not the TO. I know why people are mad but if there is one wrong side of this whole story is Preasy to let go their players before the tournament.

Yea, but if the players had direct contact to the tournament. The people there could have said it directly to them. Before they post it in dust2. It's a simple text tbf. edit: that decisions has been days in the making 100%

they didn't post it on dust2, dust2 posted the news from the TO tweet. besides, Preasy just announced yesterday they released the team... if their contract is with Preasy and the players and coach are not part of the org anymore, they have no reason to contact them, it's the org responsibility to let the players know if anything changes, they should know about that when they got released. This is just another example of orgs not knowing what they are doing and the rules of the tournaments they play, just like TaZ said after G2 lost in the semis of the major they prepared the veto solely based on the fact they had a higher seed than NaVi and they didn't

The brazillian scene is actually competitive. Doesn't look like its only a "FURIA" thing now. Imperial, paiN and MIBR can deffo be competiting at their lvl if they keep their consistency, allthough i do think biguzera deserves better
