Champion of Champions Tour Season 2 announced with streamlined format

$1.5 million will be up for grabs in the 2024-2025 circuit.

GRID, in partnership with tournament organizers Eden Esports and LetsPlayLive, has announced Season 2 of its Champion of Champions Tour (CCT) circuit, set to begin on April 15 and culminate with a global final in 2025.

The new season features "36 regionally-focused online events" split across Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania with a total prize pool of $1.5 million. Eden Esports will execute tournament and broadcast operations for the circuit in Europe and the Americas, while New Zealand-based organizer LetsPlayLive handles the Oceanic side.

CCT Season 1 split European competitors across divisions in North, South, East, West, and Central Europe, but teams often competed in multiple divisions regardless.

A key difference for the 2024-2025 circuit is the consolidation of those divisions into a single region for Europe, which GRID states will offer "the region's competitors a simplified, yet challenging, path to the Global Finals." North and South American circuits will also be condensed into Main and Playoff stages.

Europe will get 20 regional online events, followed by South America with eight and North America and Oceania with four apiece.

GRID launched the CCT circuit in 2022 with an initial plan for its online series to lead into 11 regional LAN finals in 2023, culminating with a global LAN final in January 2024. Only one regional LAN final was held, however, in Malta for Central Europe, while the remaining finals were played online in Europe and canceled in other regions.

CCT Global Finals 2024 — also set to play out online — marks the end of the CCT Season 1 circuit and will run from May 16-24 with $500,000 on offer.

The fact they have decided that we are in the same category as Oceania by giving us both the lowest amount of events is not a good sign and I wouldn't get your hopes up.

CCT is not something to get excited about anyways, it's just a place infested with match-fixing and radar.

Good for the scene, more tier 2 tournaments is good for the sustainability of the esport.

No it's not good for the scene. The reason for why most t2-t3 tournament orgs stoped was because they're part of Grid and had to make place for their plan to make it as a t1 org which has failed miserably... CCT or "snow sweet snow"/"spring sweet spring" as they where called before has only managed to almost kill the scene as of yet... At least in Europe. I'm not as invested in the NA/SA/Asia scene but I guess they've managed the same.

I am not sure I understand you. It looks to me that CCT (Pinnacle etc) were almost only events that were providing opportunities for T2/T3 teams during worst ESL/Blast domination

are we just supposed to forget how they completely ignored global final that is supposed to happen in may but it only has like half the teams and the rest is nowhere to be found because they stopped making tournaments like 4 months ago out of nowhere?

322 is back, no relog media covering europe? hehe. I wonder if they still have the corrupt admins giving teams radarhack? also they just decide to maximise money by dodging all these LAN finals and pocketing all the bookmaker sponsor money for themselves XD

Nice, ultimately it is good for the game to have decent competitions for non T1 teams to compete in.

it's super funny to me that they fucked up the LAN finals idea so hard that EF somehow ended up winning a LAN qualifier for an online tournament
