Falcons are starting to find their feet with dupreeh amongst their number.
Falcons have claimed a BetBoom Dacha Belgrade playoff berth thanks to a 2-1 win over Virtus.pro, taking Vertigo (13-10) and Ancient (13-8) either side of a drubbing on Mirage (5-13). This grants Falcons a semi-final matchup against Spirit in the playoffs.
These two sides contested a series at BetBoom Dacha prior to this elimination bout, with Virtus.pro claiming a fairly comfortable 2-0 win the first time around.
Falcons avoided the Vertigo capitulation that cost them in the first bout and that proved to be the key factor in this victory, as they sealed the decider of Ancient without much difficulty.
Virtus.pro did pick up a bruising victory on Mirage, completely outclassing their opposition as Denis "electroNic" Sharipov produced his best map in a Virtus.pro jersey to date, but the Russians didn't have enough about them on their CT side across the series to seriously challenge Falcons.
This result means Virtus.pro continue to falter and stutter with electroNic amongst their lineup, with their players admitting in interviews recently that it will take some time to adjust their system to fit the Russian rifler. We saw the best and worst of electroNic today, his woeful Vertigo giving way to a vintage Mirage performance, and it certainly seems that he is not quite comfortable with the Virtus.pro way of playing as of yet.
As for Falcons, this result represents a massive confidence boost for a side that was struggling to find their feet. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen admitted in a recent HLTV interview that their prior win over BetBoom was vital to their morale, and so this victory will only serve to further elate the squad ahead of their playoff campaign.
