BLAST ban Snap Tap for Showdown onwards

BLAST is following Valve's stance on the movement-assisting keyboard systems.

BLAST has banned the use of Snap Tap-like assistants from Fall Showdown onwards, the tournament organizer has confirmed to HLTV.

"Due to the recent update and stance from Valve, BLAST will not allow the use of the Snap Tap and SOCD or similar assistants that produce the same outcome for Fall Showdown and all future BLAST events," a representative said in a statement.

The statement focusses in on Snap Tap, and does not mention BLAST's stance on the jump-throw binds that Valve intended to remove from the game in their latest update. Since the patch, however, players have found workarounds that act as de facto jump-throw binds.

Jump-throw scripts are valid in BLAST's current rulebook under clause 11.7.1, reading "so-called 'Jumpthrow' scripts and binds are specifically allowed."

It remains unclear how BLAST will enforce the ruling, since the auto-kick upon detection of any Snap Tap-like system has only been rolled out for Valve Official Servers at the time of this article's publication. BLAST matches are played on third-party servers, and will not have access to the system.

ESL, meanwhile, is yet to take a public stance on the matter.

BLAST Fall Showdown, an online event, begins in just two days time, with FaZe taking on Rare Atom in the curtain raiser.

16 teams will fight for two invitations to BLAST Fall Final, an arena event slated to be held in Copenhagen in late September.
