cxzi, WolfY to depart Party Astronauts after RMR qualifier failure

The organization-less roster is on the hunt for two new members.

Adam "⁠WolfY⁠" Andersson and Danny "⁠Cxzi⁠" Strzelczyk will leave Party Astronauts after the conclusion of the ESL Challenger Atlanta closed qualifier and will be searching for new opportunities, the players announced on X.

News of the pair's impending departure comes just a day after Party Astronauts faltered in the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR North America closed qualifier.

The team eased past Phoenix in their opening best-of-one and only narrowly lost 13-16 to Nouns in their second, but collapsed in their elimination series against FLUFFY AIMERS with just nine rounds across two maps.

Final matches set for Americas RMR qualifiers

Cxzi and WolfY have been a part of Party Astronauts since the end of 2023 and helped the team qualify for ESL Challenger events in Melbourne and Jönköping, but the team struggled to make an impression in those offline appearances against international opposition.

Domestically, Party Astronauts have remained competitive among the quintet of tier-two North American contenders — NRG, Wildcard, Nouns, M80, and themselves — but struggle to emerge atop the battle consistently, with their RMR failure coming as a significant blow.

"Unfortunately we just didn’t mesh well role-wise and didn’t find our stride as a team, we tried our best but it didn’t end up working out," Ben "⁠ben1337⁠" Smith said regarding the change in a comment to HLTV. "I think it’s for the best for us to go our separate ways. I wish Danny and Adam luck as we rebuild and find two [players] for the future."
