Media: Complexity look to refill ranks with cxzi and nicx

The American duo would take floppy and EliGE's spots on the lineup.

Complexity are in talks with Danny "⁠Cxzi⁠" Strzelczyk and Nick "⁠nicx⁠" Lee to complete their roster, according to a report by Dust2.us.

The pair would take Ricky "⁠floppy⁠" Kemery and Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski's spots on the lineup after the former was released and the latter was linked with a move to FaZe in the new year.

Cxzi has been a journeyman in North America for nearly five years, with his most notable stints coming on Triumph, Nouns, Strife, and Party Astronauts.

He spent the past three months playing alongside Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan in ESEA Advanced Season 48, from which the team secured promotion to ESL Challenger League through Relegation with Cxzi averaging a 1.27 rating over 10 maps.

A move to Complexity would offer him his first shot at consistent tier-one competition after a year spent in the sub-top of North America, where he mustered a 1.12 rating over 192 maps.

Skadoodle and steel return on undefined

nicx is a lesser-known quantity even in North America, only making his ESL Challenger League debut in Season 45. He spent the last year playing for LAG, with whom he averaged a 1.12 rating and won Fragadelphia Philadelphia at the start of 2024, and recently trialed for Nouns before drawing interest from Complexity.

The reported moves would see Complexity dig deeper into the North American talent pool to refill its ranks than ever before after CEO Jason Lake spoke about the difficulty competing against budgets from larger organizations, inflated salaries, and wanting to return to the organization's North American roots to foster new talent in a recent Four Horsemen podcast.

from what ive heard one of the reasons floppy was benched was because he wanted to take a break from competition for a while hes basically been playing non-stop since 2020

he's better than both together. CoL should either spend at least 50% of the money they get from Faze for Elige to get a decent substitute with some level of potential, or they should consider selling their org. Because if you allow Amouranth to be a more successful at it....

Question is how much faze even pay for Elige. IIRC his buyout from liquid was only 5 figures

I haven't heard of any numbers but I doubt it's a small sum considering he's a top 20 player. iirc those in top 10 are worth 1 mil + but above that is hundreds of thousands. I would assume we are looking at over half a mil for sure.

He is a relative unknown even in NA, but he played on the LAG Gaming roster which looked like it had potential and he played with Nifty on Take Flyte for a bit.

I get betting on young talent with the nicx dude, but cxzi seriously?? He's a known quantity and known to not be not all that good. Better off keeping floppy or would have rather seen them target fruitcup or peeping.

I actually don't think cxzi is really all that bad, but he has had non-game related issues with being professional. If he can keep that under control and grow as a player he may prove to be a good choice. And if that's not the case, he also has the benefit of being a cheap signing.

I just don't agree with taking a chance on a guy that has barely lasted 6 months on a roster and has known out of server issues when you're supposed to be the banner US/NA team. Fruitcup has shown more promise in server, doesn't have any out of server issues, and is in an orgless team. I feel like at the very least they could have gotten him.

I agree, Fruitcupx seems like a good choice, but I guess they see something in cxzi that he doesn't have? I just don't think it's that big of a risk to try cxzi out and he has been decent on the server recently and hasn't done anything egregiously stupid recently either.

sadly he’s signing whatever cheap NA talent to keep the org afloat while balancing lower sticker revenue, the loss of CoL’s franchise appearance revenue (after Valve rulebook changes), keeping CoL majority NA and a tough VC fundraising environment his hands are kinda tied and he’s in a tough spot, but I’m hopeful CoL survives with Jason Lake at the helm

The Flop should not have stopped for this. Wont be shocked if JT, Grim, and Hallzerk leave to avoid the T3 NA shenanigans. They were never gonna replace Elige fully, but this could possibly be org suicide.

well it is fully understandable. Jason has this team on his own and there is no dallas cowboys paychecks anymore. So the "smart" thing to do is to go into the NA scene and search for talents , up and coming players etc to form an NA team that might be able to produce some results. NA scene is dogshit right now and this is a move that needs to be done to foster new players and provide them with stability and better playing conditions. So its bad news for sure for the fans to lose players like EliGe and being unable to sign a few high profile players but in the long run it profits the NA scene.
