Official: NIP reveal Snappi-led lineup

Ninjas in Pyjamas have finalized their rebuild around Danish in-game leader Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer, with the surprise addition of Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug as a temporary stand-in to ensure they can accept Wildcard invites.

34-year-old Snappi led ENCE to the second spot on the world rankings in 2023, and has what NIP called a "proven track record in nurturing young players" that will come in handy with a talented but inexperienced lineup.

As initially reported by HLTV, the team only features one remaining member from 2024 in the form of Ukrainian sniper Artem "⁠r1nkle⁠" Moroz.

Long-term target Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck will be the team's anchor, and re-unites with former HEROIC coach Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström.

The Swedish organization then complete the roster with IEM Cologne semi-finalists Michel "⁠ewjerkz⁠" Pinto and Rafael "⁠arrozdoce⁠" Wing from SAW.

Snappi's arrival will mean the benching of in-game leader and Young Ninjas graduate Gareth "⁠MisteM⁠" Ries, who Esports Director Erik Wendel maintained was the "future" of NIP on January 3 to keep the door open for a return in the future.

New homes, meanwhile, have already been found for Isak "⁠isak⁠" Fahlén and Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner in the form of Metizport and GamerLegion, respectively.

JACKZ allows NIP to accept Wildcard invites thanks to him playing World Final with Vitality

It's a second full reboot in nine months for the Ninjas, who made a triple swap as recently as March 2024, which means the team will start on 0 points in the Valve Global Standings.

There is a path to tournament invitations via the Wildcard slots, but the quintet does not satisfy Valve's rules on their own because only Snappi and sjuush played for a top-eight team in the last 12 months.

To bring that number to three, they will instead play with JACKZ — who qualifies via his stand-in stint with Vitality — on their debut in CCT in place of arrozdoce.

NIP say that JACKZ will play for a "limited time," presumably around the 10-match mark you require to be ranked on the Valve Standings.

No way NiP can build a top 10 roster from scratch. They need to find something to be able to build on long term. However, I doubt this even is that tbh.

Not even Falcons with their unlimited budget could acquire top players on their first iteration, you need a solid team to build up on to reduce the risk that a star player takes when joining your team. Otherwise they will refuse to join. This is a decent starting off point and then later Nip can leverage their superior budget compared to other teams ranked 15-30 in order to get some more firepower into the squad.
