Sources: NIP eye roster overhaul with four new players

The Swedish organization wants to shake things up as it aims to return to the top in 2025.

NIP target Snappi as their new IGL

Ninjas in Pyjamas are looking to change as many as four players in the off-season, sources told HLTV and independent reporter Guillaume 'neL' Rathier, with Artem "⁠r1nkle⁠" Moroz the only player likely to remain from the lineup that ended 2024 outside the top 30 in the world rankings.

Sources said Ninjas in Pyjamas want to hand the keys to the team to Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer, who was benched by Falcons at the end of the 2024 season after a year with the Saudi organization.

The 34-year-old IGL is expected to be joined by fellow countryman Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck, the only player remaining on HEROIC as his teammates are about to join different teams. HLTV reported on Thursday that sjuush had been granted permission to explore his options in the market.

The other two players who are likely to join Ninjas in Pyjamas are Portuguese duo Rafael "⁠arrozdoce⁠" Wing and Michel "⁠ewjerkz⁠" Pinto, who were part of the SAW lineup that reached the semi-finals at IEM Cologne 2024. arrozdoce was benched before the Europe RMR in a shocking move, while ewjerkz was put on the transfer list at the end of the season.

The roster overhaul would notably bring an end to Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner's long tenure with the organization. A Ninja since 2017, the 26-year-old became the face of the team as the organization moved on from players like Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg and Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund.

Signing four players without getting a ready-made core is a risky move as it means Ninjas in Pyjamas will start from scratch in 2025 in the Valve ranking. However, the Swedish organization sees this as a necessary step as it looks to return to the top after pledging to provide the necessary resources to build a strong lineup.

Contacted by HLTV, Ninjas in Pyjamas provided the following comment: "Over the last month we've been approached by and in touch with an insane amount of players, and we've explored a ton of combinations, some of which would probably shock even you guys. At this point, however, things are not finalized, so we can't confirm this."

Should these signings materialize, Ninjas in Pyjamas will begin the new season with:

actually just "before teaming up with zonic". sunpayus also couldn't play in zonic's system. all three ence players did worse on falcons than they had done on ence. what's worrying about this is their previous coach was saw, and falcons just bought three players from heroic. their coach? saw. if it's true that zonic's and saw's systems are too different then expect another miserable year from falcons.

I will be forever baffled at how happy HLTV is to completely write off young players. It feels like donk and m0nesy being who they are at 17 have completely shattered reality for far too many. As much as i like the old SAW, Mutiris and Roman are old and didnt achived nearly as much as sjuush and snappi. So saying this is not better is an overstatement imo, this looks decent on paper and has potential to achieve more than SAW. Obviously there are big ifs. can snappi igl in cs2, does he work better with Xizt than zonic can the experience of sjuush xizt and snappi make r1nkle more consistent and unleash his potential that he showed in the first couple games he played for nip? Overall i think thats a decent team that can probably either be a top15 team and get to play events that dont get accepted by all tier1 like maybe pgls, but if they gel together i can see them enter top10 and get to play the big events consistently at least

Unlimited budget sounds like an argument on paper, but he wasnt the one that put this team together, it was zonic and even then they came as a pack originaly from ence to have a core for the next season. Also i dont see how snappi is responsable for the 5th player being dupreeh either and i dont think the budget was really unlimited because they couldnt pay any team enough to give up a tier1 player as dupreehs replacement. Also ewjerk and arrozdoce probably didnt leave to play specifically for nip, they wanted to explore options which saw didnt want and benched them before major ffs. The fact they end up in nip is just somethingn that happened later because noone better wanted them probably

I think this is actually decent, just unsure about Snappi at this point, he had a bit of a history of controlling the awp a bit much, hopefully he doesn't with r1nkle and he stands more like a guy that should be given more freedom and if play him in a system he will probably just be a mid awp at best.

To be fair, at the same time, he seemed to start shifting his tone a bit with Sunpayus during their ENCE stint, whole process of getting Sunpayus to play better was about teaching him to show initiative and play with some freedom instead of waiting to be micromanaged (and he did get a lot better once he clocked that).
