In a surprise decision, the Swede will no longer play for NIP despite initial plans for his return in 2025.

maxster played his last match with NIP in September at ESL Pro League

Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced that Max "⁠maxster⁠" Jansson has been moved to the bench of mutual accord with the 20-year-old player, and he will not feature in the team's plans for 2025.

maxster was placed on the injured list in October ahead of the team's run at Elisa Masters Espoo, where they were sent home early after losses to B8 and JANO.

Jacob "⁠jocab⁠" Nerheden, who was called up from the academy team to play in Finland, remained with the team through Thunderpick World Championship, Svenska Cuppen — where Ninjas in Pyjamas lost the grand final to Metizport —, and YaLLa Compass Fall.

Ninjas in Pyjamas then announced that jocab would remain with the team at the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMR, with GM Björn "⁠THREAT⁠" Pers stating that "it is not a benching of Max or a promotion of jocab."

maxster himself came out two days later and confirmed that he was feeling much better, but that the team did not want to rush his return and he would be back in 2025, which will now not happen as both sides are looking for an exit strategy.

maxster is a Young Ninjas graduate, where he played from March 2022 to March 2024 before being called up to the main team.

Ninjas in Pyjamas mostly struggled during maxster's time, largely due to roster instability, and had group stage exits at ESL Pro League Seasons 19 and 20, as well as BLAST Premier Fall Groups, although he was also a part of the team that finished in second place at YaLLa Compass.

He shouldn't have to be the best player on the team, but he is good as the third best player, kind of like a Hunter/Flamez. That extra X factor that can win you games even if the two superstars are a little off.

To be fair, if they somehow managed to get a hold on nilo and LNZ then you have: REZ - always good to some extent, he should be the second/third star of games nilo - star rifler LNZ - good IGL and fragging igl for a decent amount of time, kinda siuhy start of the road vibes r1nkle - good-flicky kinda awper isak - pretty reliable support, sometimes top frags and mostly just does his job. That's a pretty good 5.

Sad thing is we couldve just kept rez and R1nkle + academy players and it be a good team. R1nkle - AWP Rez - Star/Lurk Maxster - 2nd IGL/ 2nd Entry Nilo - Entry ZTR - IGL if to aggressive then switch maxster or Nilo for Isak.

Yeah agreed but MisteM wont go anywhere. It's the good old "he still has so much to prove". I like MisteM but I dont think he will be a top 15 IGL let alone top 5 IGL. Maybe consistent top 30 IGL.

They could have just promoted their academy squad and with time they would have been in the top 20, maybe 1 roster change and they'd be good to go.
