Falcons' Global Director of Esports decried the sharing of a clip that "forcibly lacks context."

Several coaches criticized BLAST's decision to air a portion of Falcons' timeout

Falcons have filed a complaint with BLAST due to the tournament organizer's decision to publish a snippet from one of the team's tactical timeouts during BLAST Open Lisbon, according to the organization's Global Director of Esports, Grant Rousseau.

The clip, published on the live broadcast and on BLAST's social media, captured an awkward interaction between Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen, Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov, and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač in the midst of their series against Virtus.pro.

In the clip, zonic trails off mid-sentence during a timeout, followed by degster asking "What?" After a long pause, NiKo asks zonic if he has any ideas, or if he should call something instead.

This comes just two weeks after a similar incident in which ESL shared a clip on broadcast that featured Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen getting audibly frustrated with Mihai "⁠iM⁠" Ivan during Natus Vincere's game against TYLOO at ESL Pro League Season 21.

The Falcons clip immediately received attention from the community, which included coaches Torbjørn "⁠mithR⁠" Nyborg and Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas who publicly criticized BLAST's decision to share the video.

Hours later, Falcons Global Director of Esports Grant Rousseau shared that the team had filed an official complaint with BLAST regarding the organizer's decision to share the clip on broadcast and on social media.

"[The clip] forcibly lacks context by not showing the entire timeout, which they can't do because there was tactical elements discussed towards the end of it," Rousseau said.

"[All] for the sake of creating a bait tweet and noise and giving a false impression of the coach and players."

he still said what he said, you can complain as much as you want but it won't change the truth

even if its out of context what context is there to be shown? he wasted half a time out. thats not acceptable from any coach. if you REALLY wanted to be critical then total it was maybe 20 seconds total.

As far as I know it was VP's timeout, he didn't plan for it and sometimes you don't immediately have something to adjust and need to think for a second, that's human. And according to the complaint, Zonic did make a call after the clip ended, so the timeout was still not wasted

This a great example of the streisand effect. Trying to hide the receipts of looking like a dummy and retaliating just gathers more eyes on the fact that you look like a dummy.
