Aurora sign Eternal Fire roster in shock move

The Turkish team will don a new jersey from PGL Bucharest onwards.

Aurora have announced the shock signing of the entire Eternal Fire lineup alongside coach Sezgin "⁠Fabre⁠" Kalaycı after benching their majority-Russian roster earlier on Saturday.

The announcement ends the team's stint in the Turkish organization, which began back in 2021 when Eternal Fire entered CS with a roster headlined by Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş. The 29-year-old superstar stayed on the team for over three and a half years and helped them make history as the first Turkish team to play in a Big Event final and reach the Major playoffs.

"In 2021, we took our first step on this journey with big dreams and with our Counter-Strike roster. We were determined to build our own path, leave a mark on the scene, and make Türkiye's name heard on the global stage," said Eternal Fire's X statement.

The Turkish team has been a constant presence in tier-one playoffs after adding Samet "⁠jottAAA⁠" Köklü in the winter offseason. During their busy tournament run, Engin "⁠MAJ3R⁠" Küpeli's troops appeared in five consecutive playoffs, which means the team is locked in for an Austin Major Stage 3 invite.

Despite still not overcoming their arena-performance woes, given they are yet to win a match in front of a crowd, the Turkish team proved they belong in the upper echelon of the scene and have risen to the top five of HLTV and Valve's world rankings.

"It's a great honor to bring such talented players under the Aurora tag," an Aurora representative told HLTV. "We will create all the key requirements for the team to continue delivering excellent performance, unlock their potential, and lead the squad to new heights."

XANTARES and company will make their Aurora debut at their next outing, PGL Bucharest, where they are among the favorites to claim the title.

I'm sorry, I may have explained myself wrong. I don't think this was 'because gambling is haram', but this kind of legislation is fairly common in countries predominantly Islamic. For example; cow protecting laws are more likely in a Hindu country, or gay marriage being legal in much more probably in non secular countries.

It's all about sponsors mate. The Turkish government doesn't want a game that includes things like "terrorist" and "bomb" to be highlighted in any way due to the events that have occurred in recent years and the government's behavior. That's why almost no Turkish sponsors are willing to do it. In fact, the broadcast rights of the Blast tournament are on a Turkish channel and the guys can't even show the bomb explosion on Twitch. That's makes it even more harder to get sponsors or type of things. Because of that lack of sponsors they even played very long time with low salary. So I'm sure most of the Turkish fans didn't want them to sign a deal with the Russian org, but we can't say anything because of the situation.

This probably sounds very arrogant but I still believe it doesn't exist (in english at least). Merriam webster, dictionary.com, google, wikipedia, heck even urban dictionary didn't acknowledge bk. If bookmaker kontora was used before on the post and then referred as bk i would have accepted it, even if that is also rather weird terminology when compared to bookmaker org or just bookie. While we don't have an exact reason, there are a couple of speculations. It could be money issues. EF doesn't really have enough sponsors to keep it afloat. That is why they have been playing in every event. My second guess is that the CEO of EF is an Erdogan supporter, and considering he recently arrested his biggest competition in the country, EF players don't want to associate with the CEO anymore. Lastly Turkish government has really been fighting against gambling lately and this would have affected the org since they are sponsored by 1x. It is complicated mate

I understand. Eternal Fire was a cool name, one of the best org names for me and the logo also. Better than 90% of the orgs atleast. Also the whole idea of the org being national and put together by xantares and woxic. The team had a good aura and a big soul. Look there is a lot of confusion going on right now and most people (EF fans including me) are mad. But the main reason this happened is that EF lost all it's sponsors due to them being betting site sponsors of which are banned in Turkey. So there was basically no money coming EF's way expect tournament gains and jersey sales and they weren't able to keep the team afloat. Of course I'm quite sure there were other offers but probably aurora paid best. This is not a move anyone likes but at least it will lift the pressure of going to every single event just to not run out of money for the players. But in summary the real reason of this is IMO the Turkish Government.
