BC.Game bench jkaem following accusations of him owing $300,000 in gambling debt

BC.Game have moved Joakim "⁠jkaem⁠" Myrbostad to the inactive roster to allow "both the team and Joakim to stay focused on their respective priorities," the organization has announced.

It added that the team is searching for a stand-in for their upcoming appearance at IEM Dallas, slated for May 19-25.

The change comes while jkaem has been embroiled in several gambling and betting-related scandals. The Norwegian player was initially accused of owing $10,000 worth of skins he had borrowed from trader erslan in a loan dating back to the BLAST.tv Paris Major, which jkaem later admitted to and said that there was "more than one case."

Following his statement, public accusations and comments hinted towards the player owing money to multiple additional parties. A post from BC.Game followed, stating that jkaem had agreed to follow a repayment plan and that the organization would help support him through the process.

"If he does not fulfill his commitment and repayment plan, we will take further action as needed," the statement added.

jkaem's move to the bench comes two days after Aleksandar "⁠kassad⁠" Trifunović, the Norwegian player's former coach on BLEED, alleged that jkaem owes "over 300k to various people," including €50,000 to him, in a series of now-deleted tweets.

He also claimed jkaem had owed over $50,000 to Owen "⁠smooya⁠" Butterfield that was paid back by kassad, that jkaem "scammed skins from hampus," and that "BC.Game Esports promised to pay, and they didn't."

Sources who spoke to HLTV on the condition of anonymity over the past month provided information and evidence indicating significant loans taken out by jkaem that have not been paid back, corroborating many of kassad's claims.

HLTV will soon publish an investigative report revealing further details, including the scope of jkaem's debt and direct accounts from affected parties.
