SunPayus and sAw to join G2 after Austin Major

The duo will make the switch after attending the Austin Major with HEROIC.

HEROIC have announced the sale of Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García and Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha to G2, with the move set to happen after the conclusion of the BLAST. tv Austin Major.

"sAw and SunPayus will join G2 after the Austin Major. We are grateful to both and will celebrate their time in HEROIC properly later," HEROIC's statement reads. "But first, one last line dance in Austin."

The announcement comes after an earlier report by Sheep Esports at the start of May, which stated the organizations have come to a verbal agreement.

SunPayus and sAw will make the jump to G2 after the Austin Major, where they will make their final appearances for HEROIC. The Linus "⁠LNZ⁠" Holtäng-led squad will enter the competition in Stage 1 and has been matched against Chinggis Warriors in the opening round.

The Spanish sniper has been HEROIC's third highest-rated performer across 2025 with a 1.11 rating and now joins his new team as part of G2's rebuild post Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov.

sAw on potential G2 move: "There's always going to be rumors"

The move also signals the end of Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas' and Olek "⁠hades⁠" Miskiewicz's stints in G2. The Polish sniper was signed on a short-term loan from Monte following m0NESY's departure and is set to return to his parent organization, while TaZ will make way for sAw after 18 months at the helm of G2.

Both HEROIC and G2 can now make just one more roster move in the offseason if they wish to avoid losing their VRS rank and forfeit the ability to receive tournament invites.

The move will leave HEROIC with:

tldr green guy - G2 won't be good again instantly - but with Saw they have an extremely intelligent coach and in sunpayus an elite awper, who -- in the right system and environment -- can take over. Obviously it's unlikely they will have an Astralis or Vitality-like era, but G2 will be able to win tournaments again, which will make them relevant again. With sunpayus and especially Saw behind them, G2 will be a relevant team again.

With this change it rather seems like G2 is more interested in being a farm team over being competitive. Saw has secured millions to his previous orgs so decision to buy him is more on the bottom line of things and not that much on the competitive side of things. He's a good coach, but above that he's a great scout. G2's recent trades show the pattern of "buy low sell big" So to answer your question, I do not think we will ever see G2 be as good as they were somewhat recently. At least not until CEO is replaced.

You need a good IGL to make good use of star players, I still don't understand how snax is still on this roster. He was one of the weaker aspects of GL when he was there, G2 need a lobotomy or smth to fix their god-awful decision making.

Of course you bring it back to "snax bad igl" when talking about literally anything. If anyone whiffs a spray you will still somehow find a way to make it snax's fault. Well, yeah, G2's management started doing fent behind the local burger king and thought "hmm, lets bring in talent from an NA team that's had like 2 or 3 decent showings" and an IGL from a team that wasn't having any exceptional showings. Snax can be a shit IGL at the same time malbs is waiting to be told exactly what to do because he can't think for himself. Malbs would clearly work better under a more micro-managing IGL, which snax is not. G2 stayed in top 5 for so long because of NiKo and monesy, now they have left, the team is in shambles. Basically, if G2 stopped doing fent, maybe they would realize that they are trying to solve a jigsaw using pieces from 3 different sets. Snax is a shit IGL because G2 have set him up to fail.

Sprayxd is one of the best coach prospects right now He coached the nip academy who managed to get higher ranking then the main team. And he has helped build the new nip roster with xzist. Mind you tho xzist also built the last 3 failed rosters while this successful one was the first roster built with spray as a part of the building team… So I think he deserves some type of a chance. But heroic is top 15 atm they should get a more refined coach at this point in time
