Official: G2 announce addition of MATYS, SunPayus, sAw

G2's significant off-season overhaul is now complete.

G2 have officially announced the signings of Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García and Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha from HEROIC, and the signing of Matúš "⁠MATYS⁠" Šimko from fnatic.

The news confirms the announcement made by HEROIC prior to the BLAST.tv Austin Major of the planned departures of sAw and SunPayus, and a recent HLTV report of G2's interest in MATYS.

G2 also announced the addition of Mikael "⁠sheddaN⁠" Mellström to the coaching staff as part of the announcement, who previously supported sAw at HEROIC.

The foursome join as part of a significant roster revamp in G2, which saw the departures of Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov, Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski and Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas in recent months. Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač is set to take on the IGL role in G2, as mentioned in a HLTV report.

G2 come into the new season with much to prove after struggling to adapt to the departure of Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač at the end of last year, their most notable result of 2025 coming at PGL Bucharest, where they finished in second-place. Having started the year in the top-two of the HLTV and VRS rankings, they now sit at 11th and 10th place respectively.

The scene was at all-time low during transition from CS 1.6 to GO in 2012, which led to NiP's all-time win streak record. Right now (though a lot of teams are turbulent due to roster shifts) the individual competitiveness feels like an all-time high, after all those U-18 FACEIT wonderkids invaded the top-tier competition.

On TT site he must more job than in ct, he must decide where to go and what to do in rounds, he is leading the attack, funny that noone is speaking about brollan calling 44% win rounds on tt bad score and everyone is talking about how twistzz was great igl maybe indyvidually but not in calling something same as brollan maybe 1 or 2% better but still.

I don't think he has a stock of mousepads that were used by someone for 10 years to make a business out of it but I do understand his decision to not swap tbh, since I replaced my very old mousepad I went through 4 new ones including one that was the same model as I had before and the fabric irritates my skin. Replacing mousepads is a frustrating process, arguably worse than going to a different mouse

I remember hampus using the excuse he didnt use his normal mousrpad, which is old as hell so has a very specific glide, he played like shit because his luggage was in holding xddd Still, as a zowie gsr user that have beer, wine stains, burn marks from soldering on it, and how dust and grime is maybe 10% of the actual mousepad I agree.

A brand new mousepad never feels good. It's always after a couple of months of wear does it start getting the grip that you want. Even on the slowest mousepads it felt like my mouse was skating on ice when the pad was brand new.

I rate all of these moves to be honest. I just really hope that malbsMD is able to find his form again. Surprisingly decent GMing from the guy who brought nexa to be an anchor and never made him into an IGL again.

yep. Just because this team has 0 big names doesn't mean the roster is bad. malbsMd, huNteR- and HeavyGod is a great core to build around, and everyone in the team has experience of being the best or at worst, 2nd best player of their former teams.

Honestly, a great roster to be honest, I believe huNter can become a really good IGL, especially with sAw behind him, I think SunPayus is solid, maybe not really a star AWPer but he is not bad, and MATYS is good to, I really like this roster, and I think they can contend for some titles for sure, time will tell how will it go, but a great off-season for G2 for sure, congrats.

Yeah, 0.95 hunter was already useless so moving him into a role where being useless is fine sounds like good idea probably.
