DH Open Stockholm Group D synopsis
With Group D being the next group of play at DreamHack Open Stockholm, we return with a synopsis of the four teams that will be competing tomorrow: FlipSid3 Tactics, Copenhagen Wolves, CLG, and Lounge Gaming.
Today's action saw Cloud9 be the first team of eight to qualify for DreamHack Open Cluj while ROCCAT became the first team to leave the event following two best-of-three losses.
Group D will kick off next in Stockholm, which is somewhat out of order due to certain teams such as Skyred running into travel and visa delays which pushed their respective groups back.
Regardless, another team will officially qualify for the next major at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca tomorrow, while two Group D teams will have to wait until the consolidation matches on Saturday at the Annexet Global Arena: another team will unfortunately head home tomorrow as well.

CLG are looking to make their third successful major qualification bid this year
While the full schedule for this week's games at DreamHack Open Stockholm can be found here, we continue with our attempt to briefly introduce all 16 competitors to you as well as provide short historical overviews of recent occurrences in each respective team.
We therefore turn the page and examine Group D, which features a North American challenger, a Eastern European dark horse, and two European teams that represent newer, consolidating projects in the CS:GO scene.
FlipSid3
FlipSid3 have been rather quiet since the team's last offline attendance, which happened to be the ESL One Cologne major. The team were unsurprisingly swept aside by EnVyUs in the first match, but then managed to take part in an upset-dismantling of mousesports on de_cbble with a 16-14 score, only to be then denied a spot in the top eight by Luminosity in a de_cbble overtime thriller (18-22).
This kind of vacillation has been the case for this team since they bid adieu to the choleric Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev; however astute observers might notice that although replacement Vadim "DavCost" Vasilyev is a step-down in skill, his presence as the fifth player has the team playing more cohesively and with better coordination overall.

markeloff's FlipSid3 flirt with high level play
FlipSid3 therefore continues to improve and challenge teams, and are a far way from the four-round total they put up at ESL One Katowice, a low watermark for the team. A third major qualification this year would give these Russian-Ukrainian risers another chance at glory.

Copenhagen Wolves
When the old Copenhagen Wolves team folded in May due to its roster imploding, many thought the organisation would lie low and bide its time for a ripe moment to pick up another bushel of Danish talent.
The new team was certainly not of Copenhagener stock however, as the organisation managed to scoop up three Norwegian players from the former LGB team and two Swedes from the former Property lineup in the hopes of forming a Scandinavian super team.

Things are looking up for CPH Wolves as, at their first offline event as a team at DreamHack Open London this past weekend, the Scandinavian team managed to defeat SK Gaming, upset Gamers2 in the consolidation match, and thereby advance to the semifinals (where the team were routed by a dominant EnVyUs showing). The Wolves will look to build on this momentum come tomorrow in their opener against FlipSid3.

CLG
CLG spent a long time this year being earmarked as North America's second best team, with occasional moments of brilliance such as the team's takedown of fnatic on de_mirage at the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 finals.
The team's performance at ESL One Cologne can be called an undeniable choke however, as Counter Logic Gaming lost an early lead to NiP in their opener, narrowly managed to beat eBettle (16-14 on de_mirage), and were edged out by a somewhat senile Na`Vi in the decider match.
The team returned home and at first continued their winning ways, both online over regional rivals Liquid and offline at the WinOut Championships over the Luminosity Brazilians.

A few red flags have begun to pop up for the team however. Despite the partial meaninglessness of online results, CLG were recently taken out in the third place decider of the iBP Fall Invitational by the less-experienced Conquest crew as well as failing to qualify for FACEIT Season 3 after losing to the Premier team that is ex-eLevate.
CLG will likely not want to disappoint the team's impressive lineage this year of two successful major qualification bids, especially if the newly invigorated Team Liquid with Spencer "Hiko" Martin manages to qualify, an outcome which would throw CLG's number-two status into serious question.

CSGOLounge
CSGOLounge, or Lounge Gaming, represent the item-trading and skin-betting giant's first foray into competitive team sponsorship. The signing is part of a broader trend of skin gambling entering the competitive scene, a move which is beginning to be challenged by some in the scene (as well as impartially discussed, as seen in your correspondent's recent article).
So much sound and fury does some injustice to the competitive array that this team brings to the table, as it is widely seen as a retooling of the Polish Gamers2 legacy who were widely seen as the second best team in Poland before eBettle rose to challenge that status.

Loord hopes to do more damage as player than coach
The old Gamers2 core did away with Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski and Jacek "MINISE" Jeziak and brought in online-talent Oskar "oskarish" Stenborowski (who generally seemed more comfortable on German mix-teams before this signing) as well as 1.6 Golden-Five legend Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski, who has been flip-flopping between retirement and coaching Gamers2 lately.
CSGOLounge will play under their organisation's name with no issue tomorrow, as DreamHack has not ruled otherwise. However, many will brush aside the petty external politics and focus on whether this revamped Polish lineup can bring the heat against CLG in both teams' opener.

Groups C and B
We will return tomorrow with the next group's synopsis, which will be Group C with Group B actually taking place on Friday, September 25th.
By the end of all four groups, four teams will already have an assured spot in the next CS:GO major at DreamHack Cluj. Four more teams will emerge from each group at the consolidation match showdown in the Annexet Global Arena on Saturday, September 26.
We will continue posting actively on Twitter and HLTV.org as the matches get underway tomorrow, and you can also avail yourself of the Group A synopsis for some bedside reading although the group itself is already done and dusted.
stich writes for HLTV.org and also posts other CS:GO thoughts to his Twitter.
