NTC secure final ESL One Belo Horizonte spot over FURIA
NTC have defeated FURIA 3-2 (16-10 on Train, 13-16 on Cache, 16-14 on Nuke, and 16-12 on Overpass) in the South American closed qualifier for ESL One Belo Horizonte to clinch the final spot at the $200,000 event.
The upper-bracket had seen FURIA breeze through their opponents, beating Não Tem Como in the semi-finals before sweeping Isurus to secure a one-map advantage in the final. On the lower side of the bracket, Não Tem Como had remained steady over Sharks and Yeah, respectively, before going beating Isurus over three maps to secure a spot in the final.
The grand final kicked off on Train, Não Tem Como’s map pick, where Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes and his men came out swinging on the T-side to take a commanding 12-3 lead. FURIA then took the driving seat on their offensive side in the second half to reduce the deficit with seven straight (10-12). However, Não Tem Como would not let a comeback happen, and put their foot down with four in a row to close the map and even the series 1-1.

The series moved on to Cache, where FURIA dominated the first half on their T-side to pick up a 13-2 lead over the struggling Não Tem Como defense. The sides switched and so did Não Tem Como as Bruno "BIT" Fukuda Lima and co. looked comfortable on the T-side with 11 rounds in the second half, but FURIA had the upper-hand and eventually secured the remaining three rounds to reclaim the series lead, 2-1.
The final two maps were highly contested as Não Tem Como fought tooth and nail to fight off FURIA in the second half to even the series once again, edging Nuke 16-14. Overpass was the decider, and it saw the two teams go back and forth through the first half just before Não Tem Como took the lead, 8-7. The contest continued through the second half until Não Tem Como outlasted FURIA on the offense to clinch the final slot at ESL One Belo Horizonte.
This marks FURIA’s second failed offline attempt this week, following their 3-1 defeat to Sharks in the ESL Latin American Season 1 Finals, missing their chance at the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals, in Dallas.
