The Serbian returns to G2 almost two years after his first stint with the organization.

nexa guided G2 to a second-place finish at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021

G2 have announced the return of Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković to the team, with the 26-year-old replacing Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage on the starting roster. The move confirms information revealed in an earlier report by HLTV.

The G2 roster had been the subject of much speculation in recent times, with reports heavily linking Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač with a potential move to Falcons. Speculation also suggested Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov would follow in the Bosnian's footsteps.

Petar "⁠peca⁠" Marković, G2's General Manager, was quick to come out and state that G2 were "not looking to sell m0NESY at any price," and NiKo eventually committed to staying with the team after reports had circulated that his transfer to Falcons was all but a done deal.

NiKo to stay with G2 in shock U-turn

nexa is already familiar with G2 as an organization, having represented them as IGL over the course of 2021. He is also familiar with some of the starting lineup, as he played alongside both Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač and NiKo during that time.

Nothing was achieved in terms of trophies during nexa's first stint with G2 however the team was still a force to be reckoned with, placing second at IEM Cologne 2021 and the PGL Major Stockholm and peaking at No. 2 in the world rankings.

Eventually the lack of tangible success led to changes, and Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen joined G2 at the start of 2022 in a deal that saw nexa go the other way to take over the leadership reins at OG.

OG achieved little of note with nexa at the helm, their best return at LAN events coming in the form of top-four finishes at BLAST Premier Spring Final and World Final in 2022. The team briefly peaked at No. 8 in the world rankings last year, but slid out of the top 30 over the course of 2023.
