The European team ran into travel issues and had to give up their spot at the event in China.

Monte will have to wait to play on LAN with the new roster

ESL has announced a change on the IEM Chengdu team roster, as Monte will not play the tournament in China. The European squad had to drop out due to travel issues and will be substituted by Steel Helmet.

The Chinese squad featuring former TYLOO trio Ke "⁠captainMo⁠" Liu, Hui "⁠DD⁠" Wu, and YuanZhang "⁠Attacker⁠" Sheng, finished 3rd-4th in the China Qualifier behind Lynn Vision and TYLOO, who are already slated to play at the event.

Monte were slated to play on LAN with their new roster, featuring the two recently promoted academy players Gytis "⁠ryu⁠" Glušauskas and Jack "⁠Gizmy⁠" von Spreckelsen for the first time, but will have to wait.

Sergey "⁠lmbt⁠" Bezhanov's squad has had mixed results online so far since losing Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev and Alexander "⁠br0⁠" Bro, sitting in the Mid Seed group in ECL Season 47 and bombing out of ESL Challenger Jönköping qualifier in fourth place.

Steel Helmet, an outsider team in the international circuit, will inherit Monte's seed in the bracket and will open against Astralis on Monday.

I think we are just arguing on a pretty arbitrary definition. I'll give it to you: maybe this can be regarded as tier 1, but then we have to concede that there's one tier above, S-tier. We are missing half of the Major playoff teams, three out of HLTV top-4. Can't be highest tier. Regardless of "tier", I hope it's going to be a nice event! :)

Didn't mean to hate, I hope it's going to be nice! We had Elisa Masters last year with three top-5 teams. Smaller event than this one, and in my opinion not tier 1. But still was very cool. Hopefully Shanghai Major will be a blast, maybe Finland Major some day :D

exactly but biased HLTV will write "travel problems" instead of somehow remind people that there's war in Ukraine and due to that life of many people including CS2 players got extremely bad. And as a male u need dozens of confirmations etc, to be able to leave the country for a certain amount of time, and since Monte aren't NAVI it's not that easy for them to get those passes.
