The first day at the Americas RMR has come to a close with Complexity and MIBR joining 9z and Wildcard in the 2-0 pool and earning themselves multiple opportunities to secure one of seven Perfect World Shanghai Major spots on offer.

Complexity were the only one of the three big favorites at the RMR to survive the opening day unscathed, but only just. After beating BESTIA in the opening round, Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski and company had to battle through overtime on Anubis to edge out the organization-less BOSS.

MIBR meanwhile slammed KRÜ in the opener and went on to edge out Imperial in round two off the back of an Raphael "⁠exit⁠" Lacerda masterclass and this flashy Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa 1v3 late on Nuke:

Meanwhile, four teams are now up against the ropes after going winless on day one. They are four of the five lowest-ranked teams in attendance as per the HLTV ranking: RED Canids, Nouns, Case, and KRÜ.

Nouns, KRÜ and Case have largely looked uncompetitive so far. None of them got past seven rounds against their opposition over two matches, though KRÜ and Case had the misfortune of meeting the two big favorites, FURIA and Liquid, in the 0-1 pool after they suffered upsets in round one.
