Complexity add junior and adreN for Austin Major with hallzerk in doubt

The Texas-based organization had to prepare for the worst amidst the Norwegian's struggle to obtain a visa.

Complexity have added Eric "⁠adreN⁠" Hoag as coach and former Nouns AWPer Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson until the end of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, with the latter likely to replace Håkon "⁠hallzerk⁠" Fjærli at the event due to the Norwegian's prolonged issues obtaining a US visa.

He previously missed IEM Dallas 2023 and has often been unable to join the team in the United States due to visa issues, something which the organization is attempting to rectify by obtaining a P1 visa.

The news was revealed by Complexity's General Manager, Graham "⁠messioso⁠" Pitt, in a livestream, where the Brit went into more detail.

"hallzerk's P1 visa is still in processing," messioso said. "His visa has been accepted, but he requires some additional paperwork that has been held up, and we have no way of expediting this at all.

"We started his P1 visa process as soon as he signed his last contract extension, which was back at Dallas last year, so nearly a year ago. The time it takes to do the application, get a response, then he has to go do an interview at his local embassy, and that whole process was done as quick as possible."

messioso added that Complexity's travel schedule at the end of last year and needing to get visas for China delayed the end of that process, but they booked hallzerk the earliest appointment in December upon returning and have since been in limbo, leading them to enlist a substitute for the Major.

It will be junior's second stint with Complexity and reunites him with Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince and Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou, whom he played alongside from January to July 2022 after the Extra Salt core moved over to Jason Lake's organization.

He spent the last 16 months playing for Nouns, whose failure to qualify for the Austin Major came not long after members of the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) voted against funding the lineup, and has averaged a 1.21 rating in 2025.

adreN joins Complexity after a year-long stint as Nouns' skipper and General Manager, taking the spot left vacant after the team parted ways with long-time coach Tiaan "⁠T.c⁠" Coertzen in March.

The Austin Major could give adreN the opportunity to turn this temporary stint permanent with the Texas-based organization still on the lookout for a new skipper.

His experience coaching the likes of the 2019 Grand Slam-winning Liquid roster will likely be invaluable to Complexity's Major rookies, particularly with the setback of hallzerk's absence piled on.

hallzerk likely missing the Major comes as a huge blow to a Complexity side that has made a surprise recovery despite losing their superstar, Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski, at the turn of the year.

The team recently finished fourth at PGL Bucharest with notable wins over Falcons — the eventual champions, still with Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov — FaZe, Aurora, and FURIA, and placed 9-12th at IEM Melbourne after losses to The MongolZ and GamerLegion.
