Metizport announce hampus benching

The Norwegian organization is "exploring new directions" for the future.

hampus led Metizport to their first-ever Major

Hampus "⁠hampus⁠" Poser has been removed from Metizport's starting lineup and placed on the bench. In a statement posted to X, the Norwegian organization explained that it has decided to "rethink our strategy and explore new directions."

hampus joined Metizport in January alongside Isak "⁠isak⁠" Fahlén, and led the team to its first-ever Major as it came through the Europe MRQ.

As the first all-Swedish roster to make a Major since 2019, Metizport's Austin appearance generated a lot of hype in the community, but it quickly died down as the team was sent packing in last place with only 20 rounds to its name after losses to Wildcard, TYLOO and Imperial.

"Since the beginning of the year, Hampus has made a solid contribution to our journey, playing a key role in helping us reach the Major," Metizport said in a statement. "We're thankful for his efforts and the value he brought to the team during his time with us.

"We're currently exploring new opportunities for Hampus, so teams who may be interested are encouraged to get in touch."

adamb set to depart Metizport

hampus' removal leaves Metizport with only a three-man active lineup. Adam "⁠adamb⁠" Ångström is currently exploring his options ahead of the expiry of his contract and did not even attend Glitched Masters, where the team finished in 9th-12th place with Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson as a stand-in.

the coach has been there since 2023. They went from top 100 to 30 with jackinho until they lost ztr and after, they manage to make this major with a team we already knew was ass individually. All having to use pieces from a "dead" scene. It doesn't seem to me like the coach is the problem.

the goal of every organization, is MAKE MONEY, they've done that VERY well selling and selling and selling players, and then buying pretty cheap players, and then getting to the major, getting some very important sticker money profit is the name of the game and hampus was clearly the problem, he can frag, but his igling isnt all there a full rebuild is the way to go @1Tuurtle @Hagbard110

There won't be a full rebuild and you know it. They will keep this core of l00mi, Plopski and isak because it will get them at least some CCT invites instead of going from 0. And honestly, I have a hard time imagining a worse core, maybe if you change Plopski for Sapec, Ro1f or bobeksde or someone like that. Although they can still get them as options for the last 2 spots, they certainly are cheap players that have some notoriety.

I said that one of those instead of him is the only way I can think of how to make it probably the worst swedish team and yet have somewhat known names, not that he's bad (although evidently not enough to carry them through, as stage 1 was tier 2-3 teams mostly, unless we are really talking about "They made stickers, they don't care for more"). As for org, sure, maybe. Kind of an Ence way. The problem with going Ence way is that you can end up like Ence. And Ence had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher peak, twice even, before they ended up where they are. And I'm not really sure actually good swedish players are for sale currently. Not to mention they need an IGL now.

Now let's really look at this. Since their peak with the ztr-susp roster, they have sold 2 (two) players: ztr and susp, two players they didn't even want who were likely cheap. They've successfully driven away all of their good players, decided to give jackinho a chance on igl for no reason, and have now in their list of "great" roster moves lost both adamb and hampus, their two best players, and kept isak (I like isak. He's a bum and the team plays 4v5 because of him often) and loom1 (one of the worst awpers in tier 2). Also, they have failed to sell their two biggest prospects, adamb and nilo, who were let go for free. so then... How is this org well managed? Not even "one of the most competent orgs in all of cs", how can you even argue they are managed any way other than awfully?

I got messed up with nilo cause of HLTV, it says he was just released from the team rather than moved to Heroic, which might be because he's a sub idk. Also doubt anyone will buy hampus but that's just my opinion. Also, like you said, they won't sell adamb don't know why you're including him. Do you not think isak and loom1 are bad players? Again, I like isak but I gotta admit since GL he's been horrid and loom1 is just... Don't know why you're crediting the org for the players overperforming. The org has consistently made poor roster moves and downgrades. Let's also note that every player they've sold is from the same roster, meaning they cannot find and discover new talent, they built one good team, tore it apart for no reason when they were peaking for Jackinho and Plopski, and have since fallen further and further down the world rankings. One upset run to the major means very little when realistically they can't attract sponsors cause they struggle to even do well in tier 2/3 events let alone even dream of qualifying for tier 1 events.

No they don't. Like... At all. How does paying worse players and your team doing worse and thus losing appealability to sponsors make them money? Again, let's look at the three players they did sell: Nilo, ztr, and susp. Three players who are from the initial roster, so no signings since have made them any money at all, in fact since the team is just doing worse and worse they're probably losing money.

I wish but this org has the most braindead management probably ever - have a top 30 team that managed to take a map off prime spirit - kicked susp for baldski when they should’ve dumped jackinho for phzy - kicked ztr???? for who??? sapec??? - DIDNT EVEN KICK JACKINHO HE LEFT ON HIS OWN, but in his place they bring in 0.97 bot l00m1 - cycle bot after bot - nilo dumps the sinking ship for heroic - finally make a good signing (hampus) - sweat MRQs - decide that it doesn’t matter anymore now that they have stickers, start trolling in tier 3 - yet again kick a good player instead of l00m1

Hurts my heart to say it, but bench all of them. They are underperforming sooo bad. You can't have a team with 5 mediocre players. They need firepower and young players that can bring the energy back to the team.

Feels like a Hampus is leaving to go elsewhere, rather than an organisational decision. I see a few people saying eyeballers, but with adamb becoming an FA, and changes looming over at Wildcard, I could see Hampus going up the VRS order rather than down.
