The EVPs and All Stars of BLAST.tv Austin Major

Six players are deemed exceptionally valuable for their work in Texas.

It's geting easy to make these graphics now: All we need to do is change Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut's MVP picture and type in the updated stats.

The Frenchman has garnered seven consecutive MVP awards, and Austin was another example of his dominance of the scene.

Even in what some called a quiet final, he was Vitality's best player on map two and won a crucial force buy 1v2 in round 2 on Inferno's decider that broke The MongolZ economy and led to a 4-1 lead.

Outside of the final, he was as good as ever with a +3.48% round swing, 1.20 kills per round win, and a multi-kill in 24.1% of rounds.

In what might be any team's best ever season, it's hard to think of a better one from an individual player too.

ZywOo: "Even though we have seven trophies, we won't stop"

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets may have only gotten to the quarter-finals, but he earns the strongest EVP thanks to his mind-boggling raw statistics.

Spirit's exit cannot be put on his porch, as much as a few overpeeks happened against MOUZ: He finished the tournament with a ridiculous +5.44% round swing (+3.57% in that quarter-final) and was up to his usual tricks in round wins (1.28 KPRW, 120.9 ADR).

Dominance of paiN and Natus Vincere in groups, two playoff teams, also helped build a mightily strong case for the 18-year-old superstar.

Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold, for so long the target of ire for his weak playoff performances, stepped up big time for The MongolZ. A 1.30 rating against top 10 teams and 1.24 in playoffs was proof of The MongolZ's star maturing before our eyes.

His 56-kill Dust2 against G2 in the 2-2 match will also live long in the memory after he broke the CS2 Major kills in regulation record with 36.

Dan "apEX" Madesclaire called Vitality's addition of Robin "ropz" Kool the "best move of all time" on stage after winning the Major, and who are we to disagree?

His fifth EVP of 2025 comes after a split group stage (1.32 rating) and a great semi-final against former club MOUZ, shining in both map wins.

Now a two-time Major champion, a ropz honeymoon really does hit different.

William "mezii" Merriman also earned praise from apEX on stage immediately after the grand final, a just reward for a player that has grown in stature during his time at Vitality. He even ended up on BBC Radio 1.

Any shred of impostor syndrome has disappeared after mezii took on some new roles thanks to ropz. He has embraced his role as a quality trade fragger (0.21 trade kills per T side round).

He earns his first EVP of the year thanks to stepping up in the grand final, snapping Vitality out of a spiral after map one with a 1.91-rated Dust2 and 109.8 ADR Inferno.

Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch lacked the consistency of Senzu but was more than worth his EVP after three Player of the Map showings in the arena.

The 22-year-old sniper was right up there with Senzu in round wins (1.00 kills per round win) and map wins (1.28 rating, Senzu 1.35) for his second career EVP nod.

It's a shame he could not build on his fantastic map one in the grand final, and his drop-off there is reflected by his position on the final EVP list.

Lucas "nqz" Soares' overall event rating may only be 1.14, but the Brazilian sharpshooter more than earned his EVP with great showings in nearly all of paiN's map wins (1.29 rating).

A dominant Player of the Map performance against FURIA in the quarter-finals confirmed his case, helped by a good floor in paiN's eventual defeat to The MongolZ as his team evaporated around him.

It does not count towards his EVP, but he also deserves credit for his fantastic Stage 2. To his teammates, he had a rating gap of 0.19 in Stage 2, 0.06 in Stage 3, and 0.19 again in playoffs.

Honorable mentions

Lotan "Spinx" Giladi just missed out on an EVP, earning credit for leading semi-finalists MOUZ in map wins but lacked a floor on occasion, in several map losses and the Legacy match, to end on a 1.08 event rating.

Dorian "xertioN" Berman was right behind his compatriot for much of the event, having a higher floor but also a lower ceiling.

Another Israeli, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, also just misses out thanks to a 1.03 playoff rating and lacking the peaks of his teammates.

Spinx's best efforts weren't enough as MOUZ lost a seventh time against Vitality

Yuri "yuurih" Santos's 1.27 rating is the fourth-best of the tournament but largely came from one big peak against Virtus.pro, and he needed a bit more for an award.

Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev also enjoyed a fantastic group stage (1.35 rating) but fell off in the quarter-finals in his second event back.

Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer was great in groups, too, but also fell short of an EVP in Legacy's 9-11th place finish.

All Star

MVP ZywOo and in-game leader apEX join us for a seventh time this year, the ever-present French duo behind Vitality's dominance.

A decision had to be made between ropz and mezii for who would get the third and final spot from Vitality, with preference going the Estonian's way thanks to his higher placing on the EVP list.

That left space for yuurih to snatch the anchor position in just his third event as a full-time site holder for the new FURIA side.

donk then pips Senzu for opener with his classic 100 firepower and 97 opening.

I think he is on an upward trend, he has improved every major and this was his best by far. He’s only 20 years old and this team is half new. With more experience and teamwork, he can get even better, especially the other players will start to put in work with more time together.

Round Swing = “average % change in round win probability caused by a player’s kills, adjusted for economy, bomb, alive count & map.” When you see donk’s +5.44% Round Swing: • It means his kills, on average, increased Spirit’s win chances by 5.44% per round — which is really, really rare. • Considering most elite players sit at +2–3%, a +5+% score indicates massive impact on the flow of rounds.

I mean hally directly addressed this sentiment among fans, he thinks you're stupid if you think that, spirit proactively puts donk in spots to perform and builds their team around him. He's just the coach of the team tho

I don't think anyone wants to downgrade donk's performance but spirit dropped out in quarters while senzu made it to the final and even had a sick map there. Donks best ratings were in the group too (which they brought up against yurih btw)

yes, and? Should we give Zywoo or Niko #1 in 2021 because they had bad teammates? Also on mirage - the map they won - it wasn't just donk, he wasn't even their best player on that map imo. Still amazing tournament by him, as always. Doesn't mean he deserves the top evp tho over someone who made the much deeper run and delivered on it too

Still doesn't make sense if you consider: 1. monesy was #1 EVP in IEM Melbourne simply becuz of more "potm", even though ropz had much higher "round swing" and nearly all other stats. 2. Zywoo was also out in quarter in SH major with the second best rating overall and ended up being #4 EVP. No hate for the players but clearly unfair to Senzu and ropz due to hltv inconsistent standards.

I never said ropz was overall a better player than monesy but he was clearly better in that tournament even by eye test. If opening up that full-eco round on train and had so many important kills on nuke after they went down 6:12 meant nothing to your eye test then you're just being biased.

Jonty why are you defending Nero and his bullsh*t top 20 this hard ? You're usually nuanced about everything but when it comes to monesy robbery you're being absolute, when the top 20 is one of the most subjective thing on this website and that (I'm being kind) at least 30% of the community thinks zywoo got robbed. I'm curious do you at least agree that there's an argument for this robbery or do you think Nero is all knowing and made a perfect list last year ? And how can you not agree with JL/Niko x zywoo/monesy argument?

I'm not defending ner0 on false pretenses, I'm defending m0NESY being disrespected because of false narratives implying he didn't deserve nor was in contention for 2nd in 2024. Sure, I won't contest that m0NESY placing over ZywOo contradicts NiKo placing higher than jL, which is why my point is about the unfair treatment of m0NESY by using ner0's bias as a lazy excuse. I can respect your opinion if you feel that ZywOo deserved second over m0NESY—I too had ZywOo second that year in my predictions—but to imply as if m0NESY wasn't even in contention for second that year is an outright fallacy that completely disrespects m0NESY. That, I cannot respect. Whether you want to believe it or not, a "robbery" did not take place.

What, that's crazy of course he was in contention, there are a good amount of arguments for m0nesy placing 2nd. My issues are : 1. ner0 is a fanboy, he publicly admitted it but said it wasnt an issue because they are 3 in the jury 2. they ARE 3 people in the jury, which means if only 1 is slightly biased towards m0nesy or against zywoo, it straight up falses the ranking 3. how do you know this was NOT influenced by ner0 bias ? He likes the boy, he doesnt particulary like zywoo, there are a LOT of stats that favour zywoo, even this year he keeps giving evps to m0nesy at every tournament, when zywoo bombed in stage he tweeted that it was unconceivable but when m0nesy does "bo1s shouldnt exist" 4. Inconsistency in the top 20. This is probably the biggest issue with the ranking, how can you place m0nesy over zywoo but niko below jl. If something like this happened once (it happened a lot more than once) how can you know ner0 doesnt just decide the ranking based on his preferences ? 5. okay for the disrespect against m0nesy but what about the disrespect against zywoo ? the one that keeps being insulted for 6 years now despite having generational stats ? the one that gets robbed of his goat title, because of silly reasons like "we cant change the searchbar" or "its a different game" despite mvps and everything else that are NOT separated like csgo and 1.6 were. ZywOo is one of the kindest pro out there with snax, forest, rpk but people disrespect the shit out of him solely because he has "no aura" or "no cultural impact", thorin and co keep insulting him without understanding there's a HUMAN behind their screen, who did nothing to deserve this kind of treatement. So yes zywoo/m0nesy may have been 50/50 but in the end you cant deny ner0 obvious bias; he IS biased, thats a fact, we all are biased.

If m0NESY was better in grand finals, majors, super-elite events, major and super-elite playoffs, big event playoffs, arena matches, and he had 1 more MVP than ZywOo, then why wouldn't it be unanimous? Because ZywOo was better at RMRs and studio event group stages, he deserved #2?
2025-06-27 18:56
2
What disrespect against ZywOo? You're now inventing arguments that never took place. In 2024, there was no disrespect as opposed to 2025, so I think you're getting your years crossed. I respect your reasons as to why you disagree but no actual "robbery" took place was my point... users only assumed so because "arena ratings" and fans simply couldn't accept the supposed injustice, creating the defamatory ner0 bias narrative. m0NESY was favoured to place over ZywOo and only wasn't guaranteed second because of two reasons:- - m0NESY didn't get a Shanghai Major EVP - The statistical differences heavily favoured ZywOo In fact, it was only because of those insane numbers + the Cologne MVP that even kept ZywOo in contention for 2nd, because he had less MVP's and less tournaments won than m0NESY + had weaker numbers in Major's, elite events, super-elite and playoffs. There is a difference between having an opinion and outright disrespecting a player because your opinion differs. Both players deserved second and m0NESY ended up taking it - he was favoured anyway.
2025-06-27 15:57

You are right but it's hard to argue with walls. If it was the other way around where m0NESY farmed RMRs and studio event group stages and therefore had a higher overall rating, whereas ZywOo had been better than m0NESY at the rest, then there would be no arguments. They're just mad that ZywOo didn't keep his top 2 streak alive, but he didn't deserve #2 in 2024. It's like saying donk should get #1 in 2025 because he has 1.45 rating and ZywOo has 1.39.

Yeah, that's sort of the point of the list. Both players were in contention for Top 2 but for very different reasons, and m0NESY was not only favoured because he had a clearly better year, ZywOo was just a statistical alien, so much so, combined with his MVP's/EVP's, it kept him in the race for second but was unlikely to actually nab it over m0NESY, unless the creators of the list favoured the raw numbers over the better performance in the bigger tournaments. Creating disrespectful narratives just because your favourite player couldn't quite beat out another player is uncalled for and it was the exact same thing with ZywOo placing first over s1mple in 2020, too. If the false narratives didn't fly then, they most certainly aren't going to fly now.

+1 The disrespect towards Zywoo by the community is beyond sad. If s1mple had those achievements they would be on their knees worshipping him already. Instead, they continue to rob his rightful recognition. Everyday s1mple remains the result for "goat" on HLTV is a day when HLTV loses their credibility. Those lies as to why they can't change the result are just shameful behavior.

Stats ? okay... imgur.com/a/06af3My All I see is that the player on the left is mostly #2 and #1 in every category, except 3, and that the player on the left is mostly #3 and #2 in every category, except 4 (and he's even 4th in IMPACT lmao) Now guess who's on the left and who's on the right. Show this to anyone and they will tell you who's the 2nd best player of the year and who's the 3rd.

Donk is ahead of ZywOo in almost all of those stats too in 2025. Should donk get #1 in 2025? Here are the important stats: Grand finals hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. Super-elite events (majors + Katowice + Cologne) hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. Super-elite playoffs hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. Majors hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. Major playoffs hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. Arena matches M0NESY 1.35 rating ZywOo 1.24 rating Big event playoffs hltv.org/stats/players/19230/m0nesy?star.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. MVPs M0NESY 3 ZywOo 2 (1 super-elite) M0NESY was simply better when it mattered the most. That's why he got #2. As NER0 said, ZywOo farmed in the least important matches in 2024, such as this hltv.org/stats?startDate=2024-01-01&endD.. M0NESY deserved #2. ZywOo deserved #3. If these stats were the other way around (ZywOo with m0NESY stats and m0NESY with ZywOo stats) and ZywOo got #2, you would use these exact same arguments as I have right here to defend ZywOo #2. You think ZywOo deserved #2, but you can't give each match the same value and you have to look where each of them overperformed and where they underperformed. ZywOo underperformed at the most important events and farmed the least important. This year he is doing the reverse, but not in 2024.

Zywoo wasnt robbed Monesy should have been number 1 but because donk won the major they had to give to him Monesy is a close 2nd Only by a small margin

Yes I agree. Before the major, m0NESY was in the lead for #1, donk was #2, and ZywOo was #3. If all of them bombed out at the group stage in Shanghai, #1 would have gone to m0NESY. If ZywOo got major MVP, he would have been #1, but donk got it and he broke the major rating record, so it was obvious he'd get #1. I think people also had recency bias when they thought ZywOo would get #2 because of Shanghai. ZywOo actually played well in Shanghai and m0NESY didn't, but people forget how bad ZywOo was in Katowice and Copenhagen. If ZywOo had played in Copenhagen and Katowice as good as he did in Cologne and Shanghai, then #2 would have been his, even if he didn't get past QF in both Katowice and Copenhagen.

Nah I feel that i always underestimate how hltv decreases players with no Elite EVPs, but so far there's noone that could be above m0nesy Only other players with Elite EVPs don't have any other and ~ 0.1-0.2 rating less Only exception is Xanatares, but even if you somehow place him above m0nesy, you still need 2 more FlameZ nope because he doesn't have elite evp either, and HLTV doesn't value team achievments that much if they don't result in higher stats and individual awards

You might be right only because HLTV sucks at everthing they do. But shiro getting hard carried so that his trash rating collects an EVP doesn't make him the better player this year in reality. Spirit without donk even replaced with Niko and he is in the same boat as m0nesy.
2025-06-30 06:27

Yep, that's right Spirit did deep run at almost every event this year so far, bur Sh1ro only has one EVP excluding events Spirit won Realistically if not for that stupid rule m0nesy would have been above him I understand that player who suck at majors and Kato should be punished, but i don't honestly think there's that much of a difference between Blast Open and IEM Melbourne, ESL Pro League etc for players. New "Elite" events are such a stupid concept.

Well, the event rankings have always been dumb in the first place as well. I mean where do players play the best? I think where it personally affects their bottom line. You can say prestige, and sometimes that might be true, but if YALLLA xYZZZ had a 2mill prize pool and kato had only 1.2 mill and YALLLA was skewed more heavily towards the top I bet you see all the stops pulled there. Also the same for the fucking joke that is EPL always be worth more than quick weekend events with far better pay even the non prestegious IEMs or blast events are all far better. EPL is a fucking joke, a practice session at best unless you are running for a grand slam, which even if you split that prize amongst grand slam events it still doesn't make an EPL better lol. As for shiro vs m0nesey. M0nesey is clearly the better player by far. But realistically I think I'd agree that based off how HLTV does it and even still I do think it has some merit myself shiro is having the better year, simply because of how far spirit are going at all the biggest events, even if I think his stats are completely trash, it is against people in playoffs at big events. At some point there has to be a correction for not making it deep at the very least, because idgaf who you face in groups, it is still just groups. Missing out on 3 6 9 12 potential maps in playoffs means a lot.

When rating 3.0 is released, will there be a dedicated stat page for only round swing, or will we only see these round swing stats for MVPs and EVPs and no one else? It would be helpful to see it for every player.

because the fans want to read about s1mple winning sth and not apex. That's also the only reason why you can still search for goat and s1mple shows up, they don't want to bother with a horde of made fans who still can't get over the fact that Zywoo is the goat for now as he has overtaken s1mple in every possible measurable metric. It's cool that people come back to watch cs on s1mple's comeback but that has nothing to do with the gameplay itself

Losing in Quarter finals and getting an EVP doesn't make sense to me. Everyone says Donk just carries but he also throws away a bunch of opportunities by over peaking. Every big clutch in the quarter finals went to Zontix or Magixx.

Idk, then for example Zywoo would have 0 Major Evps. Saying someone getting a EVP for getting "only" to quarters doesn't deserve a EVP doesn't make sense to me. When people have gotten EVP's for getting grouped also.

Just my opinion but it doesn't make sense to me. He didn't even play in semis or grand final so for all we know he would've beeen MVP or even did terrible in the semis and drop his rating significantly. IMO only Grand Final participants should be up for EVP's For example: Mezzi had a 1.26 against Navi and 1.32 in the Grand final. Because of his semi final match against mouz his rating looks much worse. If he goes out in quarter finals his stats look better because he didn't have to play in the next match ups.
