16 teams are set to come together in Serbia to fight for the top prize of $150,000.
The group distribution and opening matchups for FISSURE Playground 1 have been announced, with less than two weeks to go until the start of the $1,000,000 LAN event.
16 teams from around the world, including the likes of FURIA, Astralis and Virtus.pro, will come together in Belgrade, Serbia to contest the first iteration of FISSURE Playground from July 15-20.
The 16 teams in attendance will be split equally between four groups and play out a GLS-style BO3 bracket. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the playoffs, which will be single-elimination BO3 with a BO5 grand final.
There is plenty of intrigue attached to the first significant LAN event after the player break, as it will be the first chance to see a raft of changed rosters in action.
Virtus.pro will take their first steps after making the big-name signing of Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy, HEROIC will debut young starlets Gleb "gr1ks" Gazin and Linus "nilo" Bergman, and the likes of GamerLegion, MIBR, Wildcard, SAW and Rare Atom will also sport new-look rosters.
The event will also serve as a golden opportunity for FURIA, Astralis and paiN to continue the upward trajectories they began prior to the player break, and potentially secure some silverware.
