fox to step in for SK at ECS Finals

Former FaZe member Ricardo "fox" Pacheco will play for SK Gaming at the ECS Season 2 Finals, HLTV.org has learned.

The Portuguese veteran will step into the shoes of Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau, who is on his way out of the team following internal problems.

Ricardo "⁠fox⁠" Pacheco has been without a team since being replaced by Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli on FaZe's roster in August. He was recently seen playing for a mix team called k1ck oldschool at some offline events, including ESWC 2016.

fox will play for SK at the ECS Season 2 Finals

The decision to remove fnx comes as a result of a series of mixed results from the Brazilian team, who recently finished third-fourth in ELEAGUE Season 2. SK have not won a tournament since ESL One Cologne, which was their second Major title in a row.

SK have been drawn alongside dignitas, Immortals and EnVyUs in Group B of the ECS finals, which will take place from December 9-12 in Anaheim, California.

HLTV.org knows that SK Gaming will soon confirm fox's addition to the roster for the ECS finals, along with their plans for the ELEAGUE Major, in January.

SK will attend the event next week with the following roster:

I think that this could be the end for SK as a top 5 team, even if they get felps on the team, it's kinda obvious that they synergized really well because of the group of 5 friends. If they have internal problems they play poorly, if they have to do a roster move, i could tell that TACO and cold as examples may think that they'll never reach the top again and simply stop trying. Well, I'm sure SK will pick felps right after all the tournaments this year end, i.e. after ECS, but before the major qualifiers obviously. There's no way they will keep foxj for an obvious reason - foxj is a dedicated sniper, an inconsistent one, while SK have FalleN as the primary AWP and coldzera as the secondary one. But I'm happy for foxj, he will play on a big team again, or rather he will for the first time in his life play on a top team. Sadly he's 29 and his pro career comes to an end. He always was a very good sniper than managed to overAWP even kennyS (it was 2-3 years ago but still), if he was younger - he would have a chance...

I found someone on HLTV who can paragraph . that Aside , I think the inclination is to keep fox as a stand-in till after the major . They can't just borrow a contracted player from Luminosity unless they wanna sign him first and bring him aboard . So this is really frustrating for SK right now as I would see FNX would be their best option till they sort out post-major roster . Then again , They brought in Coldzera when none knew him internationally . I wouldn't be surprised if they signed an up and coming talent and put faith in him as well . Exactly my thoughts mate.The thing is,an upcoming talent like Coldzera is not an option anymore,cold was a really known player for the Br scene and almost everybody knew he was going to do great in SK(almost everybody=Br scene),and right now,the scene is pretty much out of upcoming talents,felps and boltz jumps to my mind as i think they would do fine playing in SK but it will take some really long time till they are available to be picked to SK org.Luminosity players can be another option but they are struggling to win against ESEA Main(?) teams and their best player is yel,another AWPer. Tbh,this move can destroy SK for good,we will probably see SK in a slump for a really long time.I guess SK knows they are out of options to replace fnx,so thats why i think either fnx was a living hell for them so to the point he MUST go or fnx simply decided to left the team,and yes,is impossible not to remember what happened to Fnatic.Is incredible to see how fragile top teams is isn't? EDIT:SK is probably going to pick an international player after sucking for some time IMO.

This move could also really help SK. Look at FaZe after addng karrigan, he is less of a fragger but it added better teamwork. fox might fit in the team really well and actually improve things. I can see him working well and them keeping him permanently, but I can also see it being detrimental as you stated. Personally I think it will work...fox gets a bad rap because he did bad for FaZe but that team was struggling and failing, for a successful team in the right setting fox will do great IMO! Having issues with your IGL (and maybe others) makes for bad team chemistry and teamwork so fox will be an instant upgrade in that regard because he won't get butthurt with FalleN like fnx did.

I think the community is more dramatic than overall players. Fallen is able to play as much riffle as AWP, like fox. Dont forget that CS is two sided. So much hate for a guy that doesn't even deserve it. He did not speak a single word of english when joining Kinguin back then, he tried his best to make his team successful, learnt english, tried to help everyone, setting them up for them to shine and he gets all the hate. He was ALWAYS the star player in his teams, but has he was struggling with english I bet he did not feel comfortable and did not want to play a star role. Give him a good team, in his native tongue and I bet he will perform like he is used to. I'm not a fox fanboy but seriously, the guy went for a big challenge, he did his best, but I'm sure it was still hard for him to adapt in FaZe. When FalleN brought in taco and fnx, everyone said the same. Who knew they'd win two majors? Teams have to go through trials and tribulations or else how will they learn what's a bad decision and what's not? The reason why they haven't gone public with any statements yet coming from fnx etc. is probably because they wanna downplay and is more of a sabbatical than an actual kick? I hate to see fnx go out like this too. I think he's an excellent player and the team just needed to improve overall. They were still making semis and grand finals WITH him. You (and everybody) knows shit about what happened, let's wait till tomorrow to read the official statements. It's very easy do judge a situation without hearing all parts involved isn't it? SK won in a spam of one year, MORE than VP won on all their years of GO history (in both aspects: importance of tournaments won and money won). They know that reaching semi-finals and losing grand finals is not enough for they know they can do better. Also, the girlfriend thing being true or not, fnx has been playing like a potato for some tournaments in a row, something happened with him that clearly affected his performances a lot. fox is just a stand-in, he won't join as the fifth official member. He was picked because he was the only option available, since IMT players are going to ECS and major qualifier, so none of them could be picked/invited. OBVIOUSLY fox will be just a support/passive player, he won't be buying awp's (at least not for him, he will drop it for FalleN/cold). About fnx cut, it was not intended to let everyone know and hide it from him. SK contacted ECS on a rush, warning/asking about a one man roster change for their lan finals. Someone from ECS leaked this information. Then, my just theory: once MIRAA read about this rumor, he asked for fox right away, and fox said him the truth. It leaked before the official announcement, that was scheduled for tomorrow, since the beginning. It was a HUGE mistake by someone from ECS, who wasn't professional at all. Then, if fox confirmed it to MIRAA, he made another mistake too. Seriously, think better and get a clue before posting and hating like this without proper knowledge of the whole situation.

I think they didn't told fnx before ECS because ECS could have said "no, roster changes aren't allowed, they need to be the same". Then SK would've played with fnx, and just after they would tell him he would not be part of the team anymore. It wouldn't make sense to say "hey fnx, we want to replace you, but wait till ECS allows us to put another dude on your spot, if not, you will have to play one last time with us". About VP, I was talking about GO only. My point is that SK could pretty well follow their path and stick with the same 5 guys forever, they would have downs and ups, pretty much like VP, but, they have good players enough to choose, to replace fnx. VP are likely alone, maybe MICHU would be the only Polish good enough to join and that's it? Also, again, something happened that made fnx drop his level a lot. They are trying to become better before the major comes, they want time to train with the new lineup, to be ready an sharp for one more major win attempt. I wouldn't like to see SK being like VP, losing a lot for three months, then winning a tournament, then back to a slump, then win a t2 envent, then play bad again for two months, then win a t1 huge lan, then go back to last places on online leagues, etc. I'm sure FalleN didn't want this as well, they would remain a t1 team, they would remain one of the best teams of the world, just like VP, but they have room to be better, unlike VP, who reached their apex already. They spark for a few months every year, with slumps between. SK this year has been EXTREMELY solid, reaching finals or at least semi-finals of every tournament, besides Malmo. That's the level they want to keep, the level they have been showing for the last 12 months, that's why they are making a roster change.
