Media: FURIA bench drop
André "drop" Abreu is purportedly on the chopping block as the Brazilians look to revamp their roster after a lackluster spring season.
FURIA's off-season overhaul is starting to get underway as the team have benched drop, according to a report by Dust2.com.br. The Brazilians are searching for a player outside of the academy team, but high buyouts could lead FURIA to promote Kaue "kauez" Kaschuk as a last resort.

The move comes amid wider reports of FURIA's interest in Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo. The Brazilian skipper was initially linked to a move with his countrymen in early June, with paiN also allegedly throwing their hat into the ring a short time later on June 6.
Dust2.com.br also stated in their report that FalleN, who would take Rafael "saffee" Costa's place on the team, and FURIA have had their first meeting surrounding a potential signing, but that nothing is confirmed as of yet.

drop had been a part of FURIA's starting lineup for close to two years, linking up with Andrei "arT" Piovezan and company in August 2021 when he was promoted from the organization's academy roster as a replacement for Lucas "honda" Cano.
The 19-year-old was consistently the weakest link during his two-year stint with the Brazilian side. He departs the active roster with a 0.96 rating over 204 maps to his name. That number slips down to 0.89 when filtered for just 2023, with drop trailing Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato (1.22), the team's best performer, by a considerable margin.
FURIA as a whole have had an underwhelming performance so far this year. The team's only positive tournament run came at the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR in Mexico, where they finished in first place to pick up the sole Legends Stage berth up for grabs. Outside of that campaign, FURIA finished the $1.25 million spectacle in France in 15-16th place, crashed out of IEM Katowice in the Play-In stage, and exited ESL Pro League Season 17 in 9-12th place.
The Brazilians already have a number of tournament outings scheduled for when play resumes after the player break. The arT-led roster will return to competition in time for the IEM Cologne Play-In on July 25-26.
According to the report, FURIA are now:
Yuri "yuurih" Santos
Andrei "arT" Piovezan
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
Rafael "saffee" Costa
Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (coach)
André "drop" Abreu (benched)
