BOSS, Legacy finalize Americas RMR team list

The 16 Americas squads set to brawl for seven Major spots in November have been decided.

BOSS made it to the RMR after a contentious final map versus Elevate

The final day of play of the North American closed qualifier for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR has drawn to a close, with BOSS and Legacy emerging as the claimants for the final two spots up for grabs.

Of the two sides, BOSS was the one that managed to reach the RMR without playing the fourth-place decider match, on account of their higher seed in the qualifier. With that being said, the American side still encountered difficulties in their final match against Elevate.

In the final round of regulation on the decider of Dust2, BOSS player Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore suffered a technical issue which caused him to disconnect from the match. BOSS subsequently called "not live" in the hopes of restarting the round, not knowing that Elevate's Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell had already sustained a point of damage from his own grenade.

Despite the fact that Peeping had already taken damage, the admin called for a round restart during the round, leading Elevate to win the round as BOSS waited out the round timer. The admin subsequently acknowledged his mistake in freezetime, before eventually deciding that the round should be restarted regardless, something that the Perfect World RMR rulebook allows if the outcome of the restarted round "[could] not be determined." Elevate went on to win the restarted round, before faltering in overtime 17-19.

For their 2-1 match, Legacy faced off against Nick "nitr0" Cannella's NRG, who handily bested Legacy in their last meeting three months prior. Here in the RMR qualifier however, it was Legacy who had the upper hand, besting NRG in a straightforward 2-0 series to reach the fourth-place decider.

FLUFFY AIMERS, a team who recovered from their 0-1 start with three consecutive BO3 wins, including over Party Astronauts, served as Legacy's final hurdle in the qualifier. In the end, despite the best efforts of young gun Dylan "slump" N., Legacy bagged another 2-0 win, securing their place as the final participant in the Americas RMR.

The team list for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR, set to run from November 12-15, is now:

Favourites: Liquid, Furia, Pain, COL and 9z Strong Candidates: Imperial and Mibr Dark Horses: Legacy, Red Canids and M80 The other teams might win one or two bo1s against the teams mentioned but will mostly be competing against each other to avoid 0-3 For the missing teams, I guess the ones worth mentioning are NRG, Fluxo and ODDIK, although after seeing their performances in the closed qualify, I wouldn't put any of them in the Dark Horse's category or above, even if they had qualified.

yeah i hate to admit it but I kinda thought it was *somewhat* true, just cause of their rep. i saw a pic of nbg in the hospital (which apparently is from one of the elevate guys breaking his nose) but it was playfighting?

NRG failed so bad lol. I expected more from oSee, HexT and brehze. Overrated players i guess. Also why legacy and the other brazilian team competed in NA qual?

If you can prove you live there, you can play it, there was an mongolian team playing as well, its all americas, if an na team wanted to live in south america and play there they would be able to
