O PLANO eliminated as final Americas RMR qualifiers reach RO16

Four closed qualifier spots remain up for grabs in both North and South America.

The second and final open qualifiers in North and South America for the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR have reached the Round of 16.

Many favorites in the two regions, such as Liquid, NRG, ODDIK, and Legacy, already made their way through the first set of open qualifiers, leaving room for others in the Americas to lay claim to the few remaining closed qualifier spots.

Legacy, ODDIK among teams through to Americas RMR SA closed qualifier

In South America, the most prominent team to strike out during the first qualifier was the recently-assembled O PLANO. Although the star-studded side managed to secure a day two appearance, Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo's men stumbled versus Dusty Roots, sending them promptly back to square one.

Unfortunately for O PLANO, their run in the second open qualifier would prove to be even more disastrous than the first. In the second qualifier's Round of 128, O PLANO's RMR dreams were dashed by Bombril, who sent the veteran squad packing with a 13-9 win on Ancient.

Among the sixteen teams who are still in the running for the final four spots in the SA closed qualifier are Case, Solid, and inSanitY, with the lattermost squad featuring a quartet of former TeamOne players.

Liquid, NRG dominate en route to NA RMR closed qualifier

Meanwhile, in North America, Liquid and NRG's success over the past few days left room in the second open qualifier for new faces to gun for a spot in the closed qualifier.

FLUFFY AIMERS and LOS were two teams in particular that benefited from Liquid's lack of presence in the second qualifier, as Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and his troops dealt the two sides their death blows in the previous qualifier.

Without Liquid or NRG to fear, FLUFFY AIMERS and LOS both went on to secure their places in the second day of the open qualifier. Joining those two sides will be MIGHT and WICKED, with the former team notably featuring Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis.

Day two of these regions' final qualifiers will kick off on Thursday, with two more matches separating the remaining teams from a closed qualifier spot. The South American open qualifier will resume at 20:00 , with the North American matches following at 03:00 .
